i agree. On the road. Back up qb. Back up rb. Though…I was scared as to what he would have called as the two point play. Likely the double reverse throw to the qb for a loss of 10.
Defense played lights out!!!!! Offense sputtered when it mattered the most. DJ will be fine taking all the #1 reps the rest of the way. Bring on kensucky
The issue is the missteps all through the game. False starts on crucial downs, too many men on the field, delay of game after a KO, penalty to end the first half due to no time outs left to avoid the 10 second runoff. His sedate look all through the game like he's toking in the tent during commercials. Could go on and on.
I would have been fine going for 2, but does anyone really feel like we would have called a play that had a chance at success? If we would have gone for two, it would have been a quicker loss.
No, we would have done something cute and to the short side of the field. Still a better chance then what we called in OT
If Mertz doesn't get hurt we would have had a better chance. Not dissing Lagway at all just think he needs a little more time. The kid has mad skills. Both 4th down plays were so BLEEPING Stupid!
In the long run, it's better we lost this game. Didn't need anyone thinking we need to keep Napier around.
Well, it's a shame when coaching is a detriment to talent. These kids deserve better. They play hard and the potential is so great. This coach needs to take a long look in the mirror and realize he is holding this team back. He actually has done some solid things for the betterment of the program, but forgot the most important part - the coaching. There is no reason for this loss other than coaching. It's a shame and hard to watch. He has to know it. Billy, you are who we thought you were.
I can’t wait for CBN to talk about how this was on coaching and how they’ll get it fixed. Then show obvious signs on offense that they in fact didn’t fix it. It’s not the players, it’s him. Plain and simple.
Napier is only the second coach to lose twice to Tennessee since 1971. (Zook) Pell, Hall, Spurrier, Urban, Muschamp, McElwain, Mullen...all never lost twice to Tennessee. He is only the 3rd to do it since WW2. Edit: LOL... Spurrier too, but whatever. Napier still needs to go.
If you take away all of the other Napier failures, losing this game in OT wouldn't be all that terrible. TN was overrated but still probably a top 20 team.
I don't see three wins for a bowl game in the schedule...fire Billy tomorrow, cut our losses. Someone else calling the offense may be what this team needs.
