Very exciting, frustrating and depressing game. Other than some stupid penalties, the kids balled out and battled with heart and determination. I was impressed. The defense was outstanding The offense was working the play calling was often horrific The Tenn crowd looked as if they brought in 20,000 from the local red neck prison system After Mertz went down our super athletic QB was mired in micro-managed nutso stuff. Let his athleticism take over. Give him plays to win. Jet sweep when you need an inch? The kids had no quit in them I'm still baffled as to why you don't use Hayden more in crunch time. Big redwood with good hands towering above the "D"? Have we ever had a time out to get the right play and actually pulled it off? Just saying. Coaching idiocy. Hats off to the kids. We have the players to win This is on me, I apologize, I didn't expect to win. But knowing we could and should have... It's great to-be a Florida Gator! Go Gators
Billy will fix this in the off season by hiring an Assistant Game Changer Co-Coordinator of Basic Arithmetic.
I would not put Texas in the category of being extremely dominant. They’re the best team in the conference right now, but far from what LSU was in 2019 or UGA in 2022.
Bowl game? I think you just jumped the track. How about firing Billy to get that over with, and let Armstrong and Callaway do what they can do with the rest of the season while we have back door discussions with candidates and agents?
I would say exactly 30 days before the transfer portal opens up, but I wonder if our Admins are still sitting around wringing their hands about "what to do."
Oh, so now it's extremely dominant rather than just dominant. Lol. You didn't answer my question though.
They were never going to run that play. The only reason they did it was to get UT to burn a TO. It was about the only time in the game that BN did something that worked.
I said that it has nothing to do with the football program. But since you haven't been paying attention to the academic side the last few years, we're a laughing stock and professors are looking to leave in huge numbers once the hiring market is better. Imagine if we hired a head football coach whose only experience was head coach for 2 years of a sub .500 win percentage JUCO team 6 or 8 years ago. This board would melt down and say that we have given up on football. And they would be right. I'm from Michigan. I'm well aware that good football and academics can exist.
You have to pay the interim coach more money to do the head coaching duties. So you're essentially wasting money.
I would like your unvarnished take on the Vols' prospects for the rest of the year after being taken to the wire by a team that maybe wins one more game this year and clearly outplayed the Vols on home field. Imho, I only see 2 guaranteed wins in UTEP and MSST. The playbook to stop the offense has been used effectively even by lower tier defenses in the SEC.
Billy is in a no-win situation here. If he tried the two-pointer and it blew up, the board would have melted down. But people only want to blame Billy for losing a very close game, when in fact, if Tennessee played error free and was clicking, we might have been blown out. What do you think Tennessee's fans are saying about Heupel after losing to Arkansas and nearly losing to Florida, both near the bottom of the SEC? I'm not defending him. He did make bonehead mistakes. But to say he single-handedly lost the game is, frankly, stupid. Napier didn't teach Graham to fumble at the goal line. He didn't teach DJ to throw straight to an orange jersey. No. It's all about the coach. If SOS and Meyer had bonehead games (and they certainly did), they were never blamed for it because of who they were. "Yes, Meyer's last season at Florida was pitiful, but hey, he won two MNCs, so we have to blame SOMEONE. I got it! Let's blame Addazio and Meyer's fake heart condition!" I've seen this reaction going back to the Dickey years. The fans need someone to blame, and some fans secretly are satisfied with a loss in order to hasten Billy's firing. Billy deserves to be fired, but not for the reasons fans say. I simply believe in Parcell's Maxim: "You are as good as your record SAYS you are..." We went from Dickey/Zook/Muschamp/MacElwain and Mullen being the worst coaches in history, and now we have one whose record is worse than any of them. I'm not some spoiled child who believes the SOS/Meyer years should be our normal from here to perpetuity, but I fully recognize the futility of having Billy not performing to standard. So we agree.
I'm not blaming every single mistake that happened in the games to the HC. I'm only talking about the obvious simple mistakes that the HC made in a major program like UF. His ineptitudeness cannot be excused. This is not an apprenticeship program at UF. As HC you should know the little things that helps you win. I agree that we agree on some things, especially your last statement.
