Florida handled Vanderbilt very effectively on both sides of the ball today 38-14. Now 4-2. What a game for Arlis Boardingham! Caught 2 of Mertz 3 TDs today. We saw a lot of freshmen step-up today and play great too! Montrell officially went OVER 2,000 yards total rushing in his career! The team needed this win, like this, IMO.
Mertz continues to exceed my expectations (not that anyone cared about my expectations hahaha). Good to see young guys like Boardingham, Webb, and Wilson getting involved. Nice response W.
Dammit, now I have to recall what I typed when I was "dinged" for being 1/2 second late after the end of the game. I am glad that Brown got into the game. Miller is now "Emeritus" status. It is what it is. Brown, IMO, represents hope for an offense that can run the ball with the QB. Now, can he throw the ball to the WRs or TEs when the defense over-compensates for the running? Napier really did not change play calling for him. That is a flaw in his psyche. The defense was...let's not go there. They played Vandy. All I want for the remainder of the season is that the team grows to where they don't allow Travis to unilaterally beat us...again. This is a root canal season: necessary but not very endearing. It is what it is.
Shane said several times the new line-up with Boardingham at TE and Pearsall, Andy Jean and Trey Wilson at WRs caused the Vanderbilt defense to open for our RBs more . . . he also liked what we ran from it . . . and he hopes we take that to USCe.
Mertz is better than when he was at Wisconsin. People aren't giving Napier credit for the development. However Mertz has some flaws (as does the o-line) that keep the offense from being able to push it downfield. People aren't giving Napier credit for managing those two things.
