When you turn the ball over from the other team that many times, it masks a lot of deficiencies. But, we did what we had to do to win and that's all that matters right now.
Is there another 5 loss team in the nation that can go toe to toe against the likes of Georgia, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and LSU? The Texas game, I give us a mulligan, because our QB situation was dire. With DJ it would have been closer. This is definitely a top 20 team at this point.
In two weeks, no one will remember Billy's clock management, Lame's horrible 4th down calls or their dropped passes. All anyone will remember (recruits, most importantly) is that we beat ranked teams back to back weeks and our QB is on fire.
Yep. He is damn lucky that the Swamp i Heard that Vol fans cheered the Gator win at the Panhandle Gator Club watch party, too. Cool.
This will be unpopular here, but I'm not a fan of this. Shouldn't be taking property from the opponent's sideline. It's not a big deal, the hoop is a silly little gimmick that's easily replaced, but I'd rather they didn't do that.
Winning this game was so important to Tennessee that they actually did the Gator Chomp in Neyland Stadium. The Earth has slipped off it's axis...
I chose to believe that our defense won this game by playing better than they had in years, back to the Gator standard
These two wins could not have happened at a better time. I say this because I fear there may be some fools gold in these two wins. Not from the standpoint that we should have lost the games, but if anyone is familiar with the analytics, teams generally lose 80 to 90 percent of the time when they lose the total yardage on offense by 63 yards (LSU game) and 120 yards (Ole Miss) respectively. Perhaps we will continue to improve this balance, but I would feel a little better if were actually gaining more yards than the other team. That said, gotta enjoy this turnaround and hope for even better things ahead. Just know that we are not going to consistently win games where we are out-gained in total yards of offense. The data speaks strongly to this. We have some further strides to make.
