The kids a humble guy. He’s got loads of money in NIL, I bet he feels he’s letting everyone down. A little too much pressure on himself.
I am still in disbelief that throw of AR’s was ruled a fumble. I’ve watched the replay several times. The defender had both arms wrapped around AR. AR them threw the ball about 7 yards forward.
yes. sooner or later were going to need a fg to tie or win a game. kicking game never gets enough press, but can be SO important.
We will find out eventually or maybe even after the season that AR has a legit injury. A hamstring, groin, maybe high ankle sprain. I see a guy playing at 70ish percent who won’t excuse his way out and a staff that also isn’t giving him that out. My big concern last year was how he insisted on trying to dump truck dudes at the end of runs. He didn’t just avoid contact, he sought it out. Now he’s reluctant to even run. He’s simply not right in the wheels.
Are you sure Napier is just not dealing with the hand he’s dealt? I don’t think we have much speed at receiver.
AR will be a top pick at QB and we have a good OL. Scheme alone can get guys open (see Tennessee offense).
I don't think the defense is consistently getting pressure on the QB. We don't have the kind of all-conference (or all-American) DE's we had in the past. No speed rusher who gets way upfield and behind the QB, making him wonder if he's going to get hit any second. No Alex Brown, no Kevin Carter, no Jevon Kearse, etc. We out-recruited FAU and FIU for many of our linemen on both sides of the ball, so it isn't a big surprise that they are struggling in the SEC.
The time out on the 3rd and goal stop has me asking more questions than the 2pt conversion attempt against UT....
are you expecting Napier to scheme like Heupel? I think they’ll be fine, but that’ll be due to talent acquisition, not scheme
I was so happy when we got them 3rd and 6 on their last drive. Finally, a manageable down and distance for the D.
I have to disagree. What we have currently is terribly inconsistent QB play. AR may have a high ceiling, but he shows a low floor an awful lot. All offenses are bad if you don't get the qb to perform at least to a certain level. We aren't far removed from a 450+ yds passing game but there are plays that he just seems disconnected.
I don’t believe this. An NFL QB has to be stupid lights out in college where the D mostly reveals itself pre-play. AR flashes, nowhere close to NFL playable. Not saying an NFL team won’t take this cheese. That industry is like all others, plenty of not the best and brightest who fell into positions of power. But imagine an actual NFL D that can conceal and execute the most complex D’s ever conceived. Or put it another way: if Latest Manning were coming in next class, who would start game one? I love AR and can dig up the posts to prove my approval before he played a down. I like him more because he seems to be a top-shelf dude with uncommon abilities trying to go big fish in the biggest of bowls. But he has a looong way to go before he can pick on NFL D’s. R1 seems beyond folly to me. Or put it another-another way: what NFL QB would you NOT take today to play here? Because that’s the dude he’s replacing, worst case. He can get there, but it’s not reality today.
