Can't take too much away from the game to determine the quality of the team, but here's something I'm convinced of: we need the running game to get going weekly, and for that, we can't get dominated up front.

Defense looks much improved. A couple years ago, we would've seen a much worse performance, even against a team like this.

Offensive identity seems to be to run to set up the pass, if the run game isn't working on any given week, the offense is in trouble.

Hey he asked for opinions! Lol I am of course happy for the upgrades, but nothing wrong with tweaking things if it happens. I remember seeing how UGA and Bama washes their stadiums in red. Looks so good.

As long as the kids and recruits like it!

Probably better this way. We aren’t winning any championships this year.

Rewatching the game now. Some missed tackles on defense that didn’t hurt us in this game. Also Zanders dropped a sure TD that didn’t hurt us either. Need to clean these up for next week.

Come on man, every mistake, however minor, is end-of-the-world to some on this board. They reveal much about themselves, seemingly unable to accept that not everything goes right in life. They’re the first people you’d kick out of your foxhole

Oh, lol. It didn't look good and the announcer called it a wobbler. I didn't realize it was 51 yards.

I know Castell missed the running back that gave them their biggest run early, and Marshall played soft to give up a completion than whiffed on the tackle for their longest pass play

The play where Ricky was behind the defender and ball went off his hands was probably a ball Mertz should have put air under.
But nice we have to really dig for small little mistakes here and there

This can be said about pretty much all football teams. You gotta be able to get yards on the ground when you need them. The defense has to respect the run threat. One-dimensional doesn’t work no matter how good your air game is. Just ask Dan Marino after Super Bowl XIX. Or even more relevant, ask Steve Spurrier after “the choke”

I don't take a lot from this game. I liked our defensive depth. I withhold my judgment on the running game until we have a better opponent. When MS LB even filled the gaps or we just whiffed on a block, they were terrible tacklers. It is no surprise a team you never heard of pummeled them.

I don’t totally agree with this. Utah played to take away the running game by putting 8-9 in the box and we passed for over 300 yards against them. Mertz has shown to take what the defense gives him. McNeese played 3 deep the majority of the game with only 4-5 in the box and we ran the ball most the game. Don’t get me wrong, we need the running game working to be most effective, I just think we can move the ball either way.

I don’t think he’s a take the top of kinda guy. He’s more Percy to Mizell’s Louis Murphy…who was the take the top off guy.

I'm assuming your comment is in reference how some reacted to the high snap on the PAT?

Not end of the world for me, but my take on that particular play was just to watch Napier and his reaction to it. I say that primarily because it was little things like this, that hurt the Gators so much last week as well as his laying out a expectation to get things like this corrected between Utah and McNeese St.

I expected at the very least a hard stare of some sort, that conveyed a message of not being pleased at all............Instead what I saw was a reaction that gave an impression of - a shoulder shrug and telling everyone it will be alright -. In my mind I immediately wondered what Spurrier or Urban would have done, considering what had happen the week before?
