Post-Game Discussion: LSU at FLORIDA

Spurrier lost 5 home games in 12 years. Didn’t lose his first home game until the last game of the 1993 season against FSU, his 4th season overall.

Urban lost 5 home games in 6 seasons. First loss didn’t come until his third season against Auburn.

Napier is 4-2 in 6 home games.

Seemed to me he kept coaching and trying to win games until he was canned.
Our recruiting class was ranked higher when he was fired than where it ended up.
I know there’s been a lot of posts that he mailed it in and wanted to get fired. I don’t believe that any coach wants that. I think that’s creative reasoning by the Mullen haters who have been here since 2005.

 

But they both lost at home..even lost to ole miss at home...Urban lost at least 2 games at home that year..2010..it happens..I have faith it will be better next year

Recruiting. Dan Mullen and Todd Grantham set this program back by years.

 

He’s responsible for his lack of recruiting; leaving cupboard bare. At least Muschamp and Mac left a few more quality players on both sides of line of scrimmage. Again, sir, we can agree to disagree.

 

Of course, but those predictions were due to the lack of talent and depth and the tough schedule the team has to face.

Where do I start???
I went to the game tonight. $200 bucks for my ticket, another $100 on souvenirs. The pregame crowd was excited, people were friendly. The crowd was absolutely amazing and were totally into the game.
The football game itself??
I’ll start with the offense, this had to have been the most unimaginative play calling I’ve ever seen. If it weren’t for Etienne and Richardson this game would have been an onslaught. If you weren’t there you didn’t see the offensive line getting manhandled. The receivers were of no help to Richardson and CBN needs an offensive coordinator desperately. The defense just to be as honest as I can without being critical of any individual the entire group was a complete total failure. From what I counted LSU failed on a total of 2 3rd down conversions. One was because the quarterback missed his receiver and the second Florida ruined with a roughing the passer penalty.
You would think that by this point of the season either some of the defensive players or the defensive coordinator could figure out how to make at least one stop on third down. This defense is a complete and I mean totally complete utter failure. Either the players have checked out or the defensive coordinator is over his head. At least Grantham every now and then could get a stop.
Game management? You have over 2 minutes before halftime and you don’t call one single timeout to help your offense?
I think it’s going to be a long long time before I drop $300 bucks to go watch this team again. Sorry I just can’t help it they had no business losing to LSU. Kelly made CBN look like minor league tonight.

 

Pain.

 

I thought it was a poorly kept secret that he wanted the Jets job that Robert Salah got. I think Mullen gave effort, but I don't believe he was as locked in 2020/2021 as he was when he first got here.

 

The team is where I thought they would be. I'm not surprised by any of this. Mullen recruited terribly. We were terrible last year and AR has the rawest QB skills in the SEC.

We seem to be recruiting better and in three years we should turn the corner. Face the facts this team is not winning the SEC for at least 3 years.

I think overall we are headed in the right direction. It's going to look bad the next two or three weeks, but we will beat Vandy, USCe, & F$U. 7-5 + a crap bowl win 8-5.

We will not beat USC nor will we beat FSU. This team needs some soul searching

We were supposed to suck this year. Then we actually suck and everyone is surprised. Watch the highlights. We suck less in the highlights. Really a one score game except for that field goal. The Swamp and crowd. The best!

We are horribly inconsistent. When we do something good it give us hope and then we falter and riots occur. Expect the same for a while.

Needed. More recruits, receivers, defensive guys. Possibly a DC. Time will tell, and time will heal inconsistency. Help IS on the way.

Y’all loving on Brian Kelly are a trip ….

no one would be happy with that hire here, we know what he is, he’s basically a worse Mark Richt … 12 years at ND some 10 win seasons and ZERO major bowl wins and mostly embarrassment in major post season games … also “allegedly” killed a kid through his negligence, which I’m sure is who the Alumni want representing the University…

he also went 4-8 in his SEVENTH YEAR, which is exactly the type of program building we are all looking for …
