Well SOS and Urban did lose at home..do you mean they didn't lose at home to lsu ? Cause Urban lost at home to them in 2010..SOS lost to Auburn at home..fsu too and ut
Or he’s a good recruiter but needs to be a better coach. How often has somebody been demoted and it has worked out?
Maybe the 6 TD on first 6 possessions did not happen last year but the Gators did give up 40 or more points three times last year. Also, you may not be aware that LSU has out recruited UF in football for the past 5 years. In other words we do not have the talent to compete with LSU, Georgia, Alabama, and several top tier schools. Lets see what Napier can get with his second Gator recruiting class.
Ahhh, it all blows, for sure. It downright sucks. While I was watching the Bama game, the receivers were always open for Tenn. Bama's backs could not cover. Guys were wide open. We almost beat Tenn, we were in this game for the most part too. Tenn QB and this kid tonight, were exceptional. They just picked a bad time to excel to the next level. I just hope we don'ty hjave to wait to get them back here to finally win again. A bad throw here, a penalty there, a ton of missed tackles and you have a loss no matter how close it was. LSU's defense was pretty stout. Some good pressures. I don't disagree with the sentiments around the defense. And I also agree wholeheartedly that help is on the way. These guys can flat our recruit. So we got that. The Tenn QB, this LSU QB, and even AR, they were all slinging it around the ballpark like nobody's business. Also LSU ... those guys caught anything and everything thrown their direction. I think Napier was a great hire and he's built a great organization. They're recruiting maniacs. I love the strong O-line mentality, the RB room- he's doing better than anyone has in a very long time as far as filling the holes. I just hope he has the ability to shit-can a coach that is truly underperforming and is over their head. The givens are: It's going to take time. The other one is: You are not going to make quantum leaps with new coaching staffs if you don't have the personnel. The Swamp looked beautiful, the crowd was great. And we effn lost. Man... Go Gators.
You may be right and I agree it's bad but think it can improve with a little more aggressive (at times) play-calling. Plus it's hard-to-impossible to know how much of the calls and scheme is a result of ingrained bad habits showing. I think quite a bit and here's a hint I have: Let's use Cox as an example. Someone would have to believe that both Granthan and Toney taught him not to seal the edge and to overplay since we've seen a lot of that. I don't usually call a specific player's name but that's already more than out there. It's easier for me to imagine Toney, at least, has tried to get him to play differently and it's worth the risk for when he does things the way Toney wants. Plus he has greatly improved that and his play has also improved. More generally, without naming more names, I wonder why Ventrell Miller was lighting-up the entire defense on the sidelines if they were properly running the DC Toney scheme like we saw Ventrell do tonight. None of this even touches on losing two starting LBs in a position that was thin already. I'm as frustrated as anyone, except maybe the coaches.
With a historically bad defense, I'd like to see much more aggressive press coverage going forward. No more playing 12 yards off of the receivers on 3rd and 3. No more "bend don't break". I'd rather be beat while playing "in your face smash mouth" football than die a death by a thousand cuts. That will tell me a lot about this staff going forward.
Our once proud defense is a sad thing to watch, opponents are scoring at will, this can’t continue or heads shall roll. I honestly don’t give a shiat about any excuse.
Just don't know what to expect with this team. One game the offense is a hot mess with the defense holding things together, the next the offense is rolling with the defense looking a hot mess.
