I told my wife tonight, I am sick and tired of watching the offense and defense scanning the sidelines waiting for the play calls!!! Defense it seems every playcall comes in just in time for the front 7 to race in an attempt to line up correctly before the ball is snapped-- seriously not helping the defense coaches. And offensively we had 1 series in the first half the play arrived with 12 seconds showing on the play clock- 12 seconds!!! WTF IS THAT!! We can't get a rhythm on either side of the ball with coaches slow walking the plays- I need a drink now, geez. Your paid millions to do what the other teams do routinely, it can't be this frigging hard.
We have some good things to consider. But rebuilding year or not, this defense is unacceptable. As in right now. People still buying tickets to see the game. Boosters still emptying their pockets. The defense has to change.
Man, I think it's foolish to call for a coaches head in the first year in the SEC. However, I am more than a little disturbed by our defense and the complete abuse we endure. What opposing offense has underperformed against our defense? They all miraculously find a way to have a signature game against us. This is a garbage year and we'll eventually find out what we have. There is pretty solid evidence that first year coaches, no matter how great, have hiccups while learning the personnel and filling spots with their players. But tonight was hard to stomach - I'm not sure I can if it doesn't get better later this year or next. We are going to have a hard time with any team that has a pulse on offense.
Sorry ET. Unless we are just see8ng some strange inability to shed the Grantham pattern with the old dudes, this situation is already very bad. Scored planty of points vs LSU and UT. Recruiting is looking great. Billy needs a stud DC and Toney needs to show it quick or it may be a demotion after year one.
I guess you have not looked at the football recruiting classes by year. For the past five years, LSU has out recruited UF and a bunch of other schools. To a degree the cupboard was bare for Napier and overstocked for Kelly. It appears that the talent that UF has is on the offensive side of the ball. The Gator Offense played way better tonight compared to some of the S#i! shows we saw last year. They could of easily folded at halftime. The way they came back is proof enough that Napier and staff is getting the job done with the talent that is there. I saw the game on TV and it is obvious that as a team we are not deep with a lot of skilled players. It really showed tonight on the defensive side of the ball. Our D line is playing better than last season, but we are very soft and slow on the corners, linebackers, and safeties. The softness and slowness was very apparent on flats and side line plays.
Mullen offensively adjusted schematically his first 3 years better than any play caller I've ever seen. The irony is that when the "right fit" was in, the offense took a huge step back.
