They will likely get better as the season progresses, but so does the competition. Me thinks it’s gonna be another ugly season. Many have said 24/25 is BNs make or break. Can we be patient enough? ST and play calling still bug me.
I think he's the answer....in time. But like you say he has to swallow his pride and hire some coaches to call plays and run the ST. Like Spurrier said....changing coaches every 4 years is crazy. Zook- 3 years Meyer - 6 Champ - 4 Mac -3 Mullen -4 And with the Portal now a lot of these players will transfer and leave the next coach really in a mess.
Yes we can be patient but Napier needs to show progress. You can’t have this atrocious special teams play in the middle of the 2024 season and tell Gator fans “2025 is our year.”
9...but not a lot of snaps. Our Sophomore and Jr class (RS and True) will take the bulk of the snaps this season. We have 7 seniors, but the days of having 20 seniors are gone for everyone- those that don't play transfer out. We are not that young. Snap count report vs Utah | GatorCountry.com
Two interesting facts I saw were UF averaged almost 7 yards on first down and the Gators got inside the 25 yard line 5 times and only came away with 11 points
FWIW that includes sacks. Take those out and we averaged 3.8ypc. Not great, but actually slightly better than Utah's 3.5ypc. It will definitely need to improve though.
Utah has nearly 30 JRs/RS jrs and 16 SR's and a bunchbof RS Sophs. We have Half the upperclassmen they have.
I'm all in with Billy as long as he recruits at a high level.......to a point. False starts, penalties in general, turnovers, lack of third down conversions and 4 game losing streaks are concerning. UF never gave itself a chance to compete against Utah, and in short played terrible. He's got to clean that up, it will get him fired with this fan base. Okay now that I posted that, IMO we seem to have a potential defense. Kids played hard and hit. If the offensive line will protect him Mertz showed he can be productive. As has been pointed out repeatedly, the team is incredibly young and inexperienced. Perhaps the gimme game and some practice will position UF to be more competitive against UT.
