Nah. just funn'n. (meanwhile, you seem awful damn crotchety for the guy bitching about ppl bitching).
We've seen recruits and players take offense to comments on Twitter, Facebook and forums. Recruits reach out to fanbases for followers all the time. What's more, "journalists" scower message boards looking for material and stoke the flames of the slightest drama. I wouldn't put too much into it but I think times have changed and yes, fan influence is a thing g these days.
There is a distinct difference between bitching and enlightening. I enlighten. You are crazy folk who disagree with me are bitching. It is quite easy to understand!
Yeah, my feeling is, if I higher an expert on all things of the industry I’ve selected him to lead — let’s say to run the airline I own — I shouldn’t have to tell him, you know, who to hire and why. Once he’s gooned up the flight schedule by trying to manage it personally, I don’t want to have to hint that he should hire an operations officer. If the aircraft start breaking down, I don’t want to have to make him hire a maintenance officer. Once there’s a crash, I don’t want to have to suggest that he goes out and gets a safety officer. I just want him to run the organization and send me the money, not run it into the ground and make me keep getting involved in hiring decisions. In fact, after about a year of this nonsense, I might just go back and look at my notes from this guy’s interview to see if I even asked him any basic questions about the table of organization for an airline. You think anyone ever had to suggest to Nick Saban that he might need to hire a ST coach because all of the cool universities were doing it?
One thing that always holds true... mental errors in early games are more on the coaching staff than on the players. The talent on our team IS NOT THE ISSUE right now. Our assistance coaches need Napier's foot up their azzes. I hope we fix the special teams... they need help. Maybe Smack needs to kick the shorter field goals too.
If you are a Major D-1 program with high expectations and a large fan base, these message boards and social media are the same. If you lose, there will be a percentage that rips the team and coaches. No program is immune from it. So if you are influenced by that as a recruit, you might need to choose a school that has low expectations or a limited fan base.
We can survive losses this season, we just have to look damned good doing it. Last night we looked anything other than damned good.
I won’t be as hard as others on the OL. Yes they had some issues, but there were times Utah was bringing more than we could block. Need to recognize that and find the hot route. Sometimes Mertz looked like he didn’t know pressure was coming.
Smack has plenty of leg. I’m surprised he hasn’t been able to beat out Mihalek. He was one of the top guys coming out of hs. I thought he would have been the starter last year, but he still can’t figure out how to win the job.
I was mildly shocked that Smack didn't win the spot... I'll have to go back and see how bad we were at field goals last year. It's always mental toughness ,or lack there of, that makes these kickers miss chip shots.
They both played last year, neither really grabbed the job and took it. Mihalek “won” it this offseason, but I won’t be surprised if we see Trey gets some opportunities again. I sure hope one of them takes the job and owns it at some point.
Maybe all of this whining and complaining is good for the recruits to see. They will better understand the passion the fans have and buy into the expectations. I would rather see this than the fans going “meh, another loss.”
Right now I'm not too worried about our fanbase and message boards. The national media is killing this performance.
I'll never fully understand why it's just our first game, yet it somehow is not also our opponents first game. And if the answer is our opponents coach has been doing it at a high level for a long time, well shouldn't we want to be at that high level too? But if we express our desire to get that, now we are just killing the "vibe"
Whittingham has been there for 20 years with many of the same assistant coaches. Napier is still a work in progress when it comes to his assistant coaching staff. I still think that book on first game preparation has not been fully written by Napier, and his on field coaching staff. Maybe some of the other 3 coaches that left were better at first game preparations than we thought?
More expressing frustration that wanting to be on the level of a Whittingham is seen as being negative, rather than a desire to be better. For me calling out ones weaknesses is how you get better. But I imagine we are on the same page.
Billy was dealt a bad hand, a really bad one, but ouch! The last 7 Gators coaches record when reaching 8 losses: Spurrier: 27-8 Zook: 11-8 Meyer: 31-8 Muschamp: 18-8 McElwain: 18-8 Mullen: 29-8 Napier: 6-8
We lost to a team that was missing 8 starters. Now it makes the Tenn. game super important . Lost that and my hope for winning 6 games will maybe be a pipe dream. Win and we have a chance for a winning season. I was blaming Mertz performance before on the coaches at Wisconsin. Now I am thinking it wasn't them.
Anyone have the full field view? I thought we had 3 in the ez for potential return since it was long kick.
