Special teams buy committee isn’t cutting it. Hopefully, CBN is self reflective enough to see the warning signs vs reaching the here’s your sign phase
Easy to have high percentages of completions for short yardage until teams tighten up on third down because of being predictable. Big schools have really good DC who love our type of O. Against good teams we will struggle to score many points imo and we play a lot of such teams.
No sir . . . this "vibe" won't be coming from Gator Country much longer. It's unacceptable. Admins and mods have been discussing what to do since last night's embarrassing posting display.
I don’t make the analogy lightly, not only because of the immense respect I have for our men and women in uniform, past and present, but also because football is just a sport and those Easy Company men were in real life and death situations. It’s hard to point the finger at someone who freezes in a life and death situation. But it’s the one comparison that kept coming up for me. Apologies if it offends any of our men and women who serve/served.
he did have one really nice play in the second half where he got heavy pressure on the QB and was held and drew a flag - that probably would've been a sack without the penalty.
It sounds like you may be throwing in the towel on BN with that "questions answered" comment. FTR, I agree with the failure to show some strides in game-day coaching acumen being a real problem. I just don't see giving up the ship five miles out from harbor as a solution. Short-term thinking is one of the reasons we're in the mess we're in now.
I am not going to discuss ad nauseum the few improvements and many areas of continued concern last night that have already been covered on this board and elsewhere other than to share a few images that swirled in my mind last night while recalling the game. One being the popular Spurrier shaking of his head gif from the Miami opener a few years ago. An image of Shelly Meyer frantically calling 911 when Urban falls out of bed while suffering from the effects of an overdose of Ambien and booze. And finally, a befuddled "I am in way over my head as an OC" look Napier exhibited on the sideline last night. Not a good start to year two of the Napier regime. I hold out hope (still) for vast improvement in game two. It better improve... Steve Spurrier Spurrier GIF - Steve Spurrier Spurrier Florida Gators - Discover & Share GIFs
I'll only speak for myself, my criticisms of BN and last night are not because I want to give up on him. I want him to do what Mullen would not, see continuing problems in areas of the team and fix them. I'm cautiously optimistic about Armstrong on D and even more so with some of the young talent. Off the top of my head Shamar was solid, TJ Searcy was arguably our most disruptive DL while not getting a ton of snaps, and Castell looks like a foundation type guy on the back end.
I would bet 50+% of the 44 pass attempts last night were within 5yds of the line of scrimmage either way. The infamous sideways throw, a cornerstone of Billy’s offense. It’s very 1AA-ish, imho.
A lot being said here is being echoed in the Gator media today. Most faulting coaching preparation and poor scheme on both sides. Some of the talking heads are brutal this am. Curious to see what the Monday presser will be like. A lot of important practices and games coming up to set the tone. Winning solves all. Go Gators
