I took off my orange and blue glasses and realized I watched a very enjoyable and competitive game between at best two average SEC football teams. That being said, the Gators are better than last year and in my opinion heading in the right direction.
Unfortunately, I agree. We could win, I get it, but it’s very unlikely. My hope/expectation is that we play as well as be are capable of bringing our A game. We need to show some fight. Did Kentucky fight hard and still get crushed? We will see what kind of effort our boys put up.
I think Napier wanted Pratt and Mertz to battle it out for the job, but Pratt ended up changing his mind and stayed at Tulane.
Gage Wilcox - career ending injury Nick Elknis - transferred, currently a backup at USCe Jason Odom - decent blocking TE when healthy
It was a must win for our program. Can't afford to lose to likes of the cocks, kentucky, vandy, and mizzou -- those are the only gimmy games in this league..... The cocks are a bad football team. probably will lose to mizzou, a&m, kentucky and clemson. FYI Kentucky is a bad football team also - mabye they beat Miss State, but besides that, they might not win another game. We have to show well in Jacksonville - we have to compete. Georgia without Bowers is beatable. Brutal stretch coming up here after the bye week, we have to take it week to week, but will be 5 very tough games. Even arkansas will put up a fight. They can't win close games, something like 5-20 in games decides by less than a touchdown. But they keep it close.
It's a rivalry game, the biggest to a lot of us. Anything can and has happened. Color me not as impressed with the kid from Jax starting at QB as the munchkin who led UGA to two national championships. I think Mertz will deal better with the rivalry game pressure so long as we don't let the game get out of hand early.
No one has brought pressure against their QB as of yet. Will AA find a way to bring the heat and make their QB uncomfortable in the pocket? Our game will depend on how much pressure we can bring against their QB... If we take their QB out of his comfort zone we have a good chance to make a game of it. THAT IS THE KEY TO MAKING THIS A CLOSE GAME.
That’s a tall task. We haven’t really put pressure on any qb this year, even teams that struggle to protect the passer. Hope AA dials up something new after the bye:
If that is the case, we are in trouble. Someone joked last week in the SC fan thread that we don't rush the passer, it was funny then, now it is kinda depressing.
