Obviously Billy took a very early flyer on AA. Nick hired him to be a LB coach there, not the DC, no chance. It was a huge risk by Billy. His tenure here could very well hinge on it. Billy knew AA and he likes to surround himself with his type of guys. Only time will tell, but it’s been a rough first year here for AA, imho.

I'm sorry, this just doesn't hold water. LSU had 1 drive of more than 7 plays, the goal line stand. No one on our defense should have been even approaching gassed.

It's a combination of youth and talent. Freshman safeties that are soft right now, 8 has been a serviceable corner at best, and 3 sucked for a while before improving some but still not looking like a top corner.

Mizzou shut down Tinerc’s run game last night and are a very physical team. My guess is we won’t be able to run against them.

I think the defensive problem as much if not more attributable to the defensive position coaches than it is to the DC. It's not the responsibility of the DC to teach technique. The defense has been giving up way too many yards after catch and it wasn't just last night's game, it was also the case in the last several games especially against Georgia. Giving him credit where credit is due since he is a very gifted athlete, Jayden Daniels long runs were as much attributable to poor tackling as they were to his speed. Not really looking forward to the FSU game since we could end up seeing a similar performance from Travis Jordan.

If Auburn is average, what does that make us? We could have easily been 4-6 right now...

If you really think this, then you don't know much about defensive coaching or schemes.

I understand it is human nature to hold out hope and make excuses, or to just get angry. I totally disagree with those who think those things are bad. <---(notice I didn't say they were good.) To me it shows passion and expectations, both can be used for good and bad.

I will keep beating the drum that the day no one on this board cares enough to get angry, is infinitely worse than it being filled with disgust and impatience.

Yes, our Hog loss, at home, looks even uglier today.

    Read this yesterday:

“Yes, Kentucky's only wins over teams that finished the season with a winning record in SEC play since Stoops was hired before the 2013 season came against South Carolina in 2017 and Florida in 2018. Stoops' record against teams that finished with a winning record in SEC play is 2-26.“

    UK mauled UF this year.

We are not a good football team. We can point to players, coaches, administration, they are all culpable. You don't have historically bad performances without everything going wrong. More so, this wasn't a fluke, wasn't a one off, anyone being realistic knew this was going to be rough, not this rough maybe, but rough.

I couldn’t agree with you more. I think we got beat tonight by the probable Heisman Trophy winner, as well as the probable Biletnikoff trophy winner. They took over the end of the game. Proud of the way our guy showed up though. I think there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

    Amen!

I once saw a post on Facebook that said "Rock Bottom became the solid foundation on which I was able to build my life"!

I'm all about giving Napier the time he needs to get us truly competitive again.

    Go Gators!

I don’t agree that it’s time to panic and replace the DC. I do think we need to add some more serious talent on the defensive side with size and tackling ability. We are very likely played against the Heisman Trophy winner, as well as the Biletnikoff trophy winner last night. If not for those two I think we’re in that game and maybe when it.

Yeah, remember we’re playing a lot of freshmen on defense. This ain’t high school football anymore. They’ve got a lot of growing up to do. Hopefully we will see that in the next couple of years.

And don’t forget the portal. The Portal allows you to improve much faster than just recruiting. Hoping BN is heavily into the portal the off-season.

Unfortunately, I think we’re going to see the same type of play from FSU.

. . . and growing physically. They're already giving up weight and strength and it often shows. I was telling someone else about a kid my grandchildren know who was 295 pounds coming out of high school last May. His dad told me he dropped 30 pounds over the summer and is finally back to being "only" down 15 pounds. College is a much different beast than most HS kids realize.

Agree that Daniels and Nabers are definitely finalists for those awards, but I'd bet against either of them winning. Daniels has a decent shot at the Heisman but if Oregon or Washington win out then that QB probably wins the Heisman. On the Biletnikoff side, Marvin Harrison Jr is the odds-on favorite right now and has a big showcase game left (LSU doesn't). But your overall point is still valid, if Daniels was out last night I think UF is in that game, he makes such a huge difference with his running.

I can’t say I disagree with that analysis. May be better said that we played against two serious play makers on their side and we don’t have that kind of talent on our side of the ball.
