Just an ugly team playing ugly football.

Bless the players but geez. I wouldn't even want to be a fly-on-the-wall on some of these staff meetings. I'm willing to bet it's going to be obvious that these coaches don't know what the heck they are doing for the amount of money they're getting paid and for this level of football.

  2. NGL - I have been watching Vanderbilt’s performance against Missouri and South Carolina’s performance against Tennessee just to find signs that Florida was not the worst team in the SEC East.

Do you really want to discuss Mullen's record?

    I don't think so.

What about it? That it's better than Napier's? I'm confused? Stop while you're way behind.

    10-3 first year then 11-2.
6-7 and maybe 6-7 year two.

Think Mullen was clearly better his first two seasons.

Nope. He inherited a better roster. He won his first two years with players he didn't recruit.

But still lost to KY twice.

And never made it to the SEC East, never sniffed it.

    Facts.

    Still confused?

Maybe reflect on why he got canned.

Agreed but with McElwain's players. Mullen didn't recruit

    - Lost to a Kentucky team that won 10 games. BN lost to a Kentucky team that won 7 games (so much for this Kentucky is different).
    - Beat Vandy by 10, 56, 21 and 42 points. BN lost to Vandy
    - Never made it to the SEC East doesn't make sense, I'm assuming SEC title game. Ok cool story?
    - BN had a QB that went #4 overall and starts for the Colts. BN didn't have him quite looking like an NFL QB now though, did he?
    - Mullen deserved to get fired because he lost the team and didn't make the staff changes he should have made. I'm a believer in "hiring up" not "hiring down." Meaning don't fire one coach to hire a worse coach. Jury is out on Napier, but if ANYONE thinks BN is better on gameday, calling plays, coaching an offense, coaching a QB, or pretty much anything that has to do with putting points on the board or winning games, they should get their head examined. And I mean quickly. I'll make the appointment for you if you want me to.

No doubt he was lazy on recruiting but through the first 18 games it’s not close record wise. Just really hoping Billy isn’t too stubborn in the offseason and gets a dedicated OC and ST coach and takes the true CEO role. It’s too much for him to try and call plays, coach the qbs, and manage all his direct reports.

But when his recruits finally were fully installed, the team was bad.

“Florida under Napier is now 3-6 when opponents score first, 1-5 when scoring less than 21 points, 3-9 when allowing 21+ points, 1-9 when tied or trailing after the third quarter and 1-6 when being out rushed.”

“The Gators entered Saturday ranked 128th out of 133 FBS teams in pace of play averaging an offensive snap every 31 seconds of possession. A run-first, grinding offense will certainly not move with tempo, but Florida seemingly has no ability to adjust situationally during games, such as Saturday when it trailed by two scores with more than enough time to go in the fourth quarter. The offense continued to lumber along without any significant haste.”

Mullen knew how to call plays. That was his talent, plus having coached in the SEC West he was familiar with many teams on our schedule. He did pretty well but turned out to be fools gold when he got lazy. He did end some losing streaks we had, like FSU for example.

This current dude however, is on track to start a few losing streaks of his own

Mullen got abused by our SEC rivals in recruiting. Period.

    It now costs us.

If Napier can turn it around, it’ll take a while. We got manhandled on both sides of the ball and maybe they were just better/more talent.

I agree re: Mullen's first two seasons. But he sucked his last two seasons.

Is that what you want? A coach that wins his first two years with another coach's players, and then sucks his last two years with his own players?
