I don’t remember seeing a Gator fan get beaten up this bad in awhile. They just teed-off on us. I’m left with the image of Arlis Boardingham being thrown around, like a ragdoll, by a DB.
Youth is the biggest problem. Two deep is thick with freshman and sophomores and they will make mistakes.
That was a great running back but I was shocked by the holes our defensive line left for him. I was prepared for a loss but not prepared to be dominated like that. Games can go bad - I've seen it happen to Meyer and Spurrier but Napier, unfortunately has worn out his welcome with disastrous performances coming after glimmers of hope. I still want to give him adequate time but found this game sickening.
Mistakes are expected but 280 yards rushing isn’t youth or mistakes, it’s a battle of Will’s at that point and we had way less Will than they did.
I’ve always rooted for whoever puts on the HBC hat. I always want to give them the proper amount of time. But, with it being a reoccurring event every 3-4 years since Urban, it seems easier to spot that we seem to be on the same ole path of “not the right guy.” I hope I’m wrong. I want to be wrong. But, I still see no improvement on the field. I see no improvement in on the field discipline. I see no improvement in a ready to play mentality. I see no improvement in offensive play calling. We need two yards, run it up the middle even if it hasn’t worked the last six times. There is no ingenuity to the offense. There is no killer mindsets on our defense. There seems to be no visible leaders. If we lost today, but looked like we wanted it. I’d be okay with the loss. But, we played like crap against cupcake Charlotte and lost to Kentucky repeatedly, and we couldn’t get up for this game. What were we still celebrating Charlotte?! I, as many others have stated, see nothing that says we will progressively get better this season or any future season. My zeal for Florida Football has waned greatly in the last few years. Some of that due to life circumstance keeping me away from the TV. Most of that because, for some reason, we keep spending money on Coaches that haven’t proven themselves and continue to not prove themselves when they get here. It is a sad state of affairs when we can’t field a team that can crush teams like Charlotte, and hang with Kentucky.
Sickening is a good adjective for the effort. I could have run through those holes. He’s a good back no doubt but any back can run in a straight line untouched.
Missed tackles. Lots of them. Guy messes up an assignment, the next guy up is another freshman or sophomore.
I’m not stuck on wins and losses in this rebuild with a tough schedule. It’s more about how that just went down.
I read Napier expects him to be out for a good chunk of time but believes the injury won't require surgery.
That’s the thing. It’s the constant inconsistency and bad to horrible losses. Nothing makes you think this program is turning the corner.
