Agree wing. This was the game Billy didn’t need, right now. Go up there and play a hard fought game and lose is one thing. Go up there and get completely manhandled is another. The Charlotte game should’ve set off 5-alarm fire bells. But it was tempted down with the OL was in bad shape, move it along. The truth is there are fires everywhere now. Billy really has his work cut out for him. You can see it in his face he’s well aware of that too.
Looking at the game for the first time. I can see why Napier is taking the blame. The team was poorly prepared and poorly coached for this game. it’s very rare that a major program will allow such extensive on the job training that Napier is getting. I hope he can figure out how to put it together soon. The excuse that he inherited Mullen’s deficits is running thin
Come on people, most of you were predicting 5 - 7 wins this season, it's not exactly shocking UF lost the game, it is shocking that UF played so poorly, basicly getting beat in every phase except maybe punting. Young club, gonna take some lumps, no one was expecting this team to be great. There are other goals ....... I say start game planning for UGA right now!! .
SEC we won in the 1978 I think? And the last time we were a national contender at all...Bear Bryant was our coach. Funny story...we had Bryant and Rupp as our coaches...story goes that Bear got a watch for a gift and Rupp got a car...so Bear Bryant left and went to Texas A&M. History could've been so much different if we hadn't screwed up. Not to mention....Howard Schnellenberger played at Kentucky and grew up in Kentucky...we could've hired him too...instead he builds up Miami and creates our rival in Louisville.
I started thinking about my golf game tomorrow after the 1st quarter.. Not much solace from either today
A agree with you here. AA didn't have the right scheme/s in this game, but he's still far better than most out there. But the one time I remember a 5 man front by AA we stopped their running back for a short gain. The we went back to a 3-3 "prevent" passive defense... never stops the run.
It could happen in a couple months. Georgia isn’t last year’s Georgia at this point. I wouldn’t hold my breath but it could happen.
It’s hard to not meltdown after watching that. For whatever reason, our guys didn’t have the fire to compete today. That’s a part of coaching that they failed at today. Kentucky came out in round one trying to end the fight in the first three minutes and our guys just weren’t in the frame of mind to match the intensity. They lost the fist fight and got mauled physically on both sides of the ball.
The game started like one of Mullen’s after the jammy warmups. The kids did fight, but were never in position after getting rocked
He doesnt roll left because cant throw well moving to his left. If he goes left it is tuck and run time.
Has anyone else noticed that when we are on the road, our "silent count" is the left guard tapping the center on the leg, the center pointing straight forward, and then hiking the ball almost exactly 1 second after he points. We were doing this last year too. Who would even think this was be a viable option. I watched the GA/AU game and their silent count (at a much louder stadium) was nothing this obvious.
Like everyone who has watched this season he knows he has problems to fix. But it is not clear to me he has the tools necessary. Time will tell. I still expect the USCe game to be the turning point.
