I'm convinced on-field results and recruiting have almost nothing to do with each other. If it did, Mullen would've been top 3 in the conference after that 2020 season, and Napier should be bottom 3 now. It never makes any sense. Kirby looked mediocre when he first got to Georgia, but the recruiting didn't budge, and look at them now.
You could see Norvell having an impact on the culture at FSU. The kids played hard most games, even when they were down. There was improvement even without the top line talent. I see no change at UF. Same crap, different day.
Here’s the thing. Everyone and their grandma knew we needed a real OC and playcaller by the end of last year. Billy had all offseason to do that and he was too stubborn to. Now we force his hand? That’s not a good recipe for success. A good coach should have made that change already.
He also gives off serious McElwaine Vibes in his diction, cadence in interviews. I just want to see him go off on someone, anyone.
I’m thinking we were all too tough on Richardson last year. I shudder to think what the record would’ve been if he hadn’t been here.
Freeze scored 10 whole points last week against A&M and 14 the week before against Cal. Everyone knows Billy needs to bring in an OC, but at least take 5 seconds to make sure what you're saying is backed up before you say it.
Just a simple guy who watches college football. Wondering why the lack of O is a surprise from a Coach who was fired from OC at Clemson and spent time at Bama and CSU learning from/under McDeaththreat.
Anybody more miserable than miserable me? Sorry to suggest Napier would have never canned Toney because he wont change his stripes. Sorry to suggest he needs to fire himself as offensive coordinator and fire the special teams whatever he is. Great day...proud of how far he has raised the program. Looking forward to another 6 win season.
Not all, exactly. Spurrier won at Florida with high powered offenses, but won at USCe with strong defense and weak offense. He adapted to his team's strength.
This was the part I did not agree with That was a full year before the events that led to Mac's sudden firing. There was no indicator at that point that Mac would flame out.
If I could change one thing in this game, I would have stacked the box on defense and run blitzed Leary all game long... playing man press on the back-end. If we would have done that we'd be having a different conversation right now. We never even tried to play aggressive defensive football.
