We saw some great things from Lagway.

Otoh, we saw a bunch of the same . This won't change. It is what CBN is, and we will get crushed by everyone with a pulse in a year when aTm, MSU, UK, LSU, and FSU are all down.

I am just going to enjoy seeing the youngsters get some pt this year.

Thats the point. Its been a long time since a QB at Florida ate a cupcake like that.

 

I was at the game and the crowd started chanting "DJ Lagway, DJ Lagway" over and over after every big play starting in the 2nd quarter. His poise, decision-making and accuracy on the long ball was very impressive. And I don;t care that it was only against Samford. I think he's earned the right to start next week and I think the players will rally around him. Will Napier make the right decision if bother DJ & Mertz are healthy? I don"t know, but it's a huge decision, IMO.

SOS switched back and forth with Dean and DW quite a bit actually. He didn’t give the ball to DW after one good game and never look back.

 

Sorry just irritating to see the word “kid” when it’s business is business. Yes I am being critical, sorry been a long night. Had to listen to two Canes yapping throughout our game. I’ll give them credit, I went to pay our groups bill and was told it was taken care of.

 

Spurrier was the opposite. You had two bad drives and he’d yank you.

I like Mertz, but he doesn’t put up those numbers even agains Samford. DJ must start in order to have a somewhat decent season

Samford is an FCS school and a not even a top level FCS school. I'm not even sure if Lagway's stats tonight count, like in the record books and stuff. Furman, who won the Southern conference title last year (same conference as Samford), trailed 56-0 at halftime at Ole Miss last week. I get that you like to look for reasons to be optimistic, but you cannot parse stats from a game like we had tonight. Samford is one level above putting cones out on the field as defenders when compared to our guys. You are setting yourself up to be very disappointed when we play A&M next week (if Billy lets him get more than two drives). And that is not all Lagway's fault. Our offense cannot keep up with SEC caliber defenses and Lagway's performance will suffer greatly as a result. Which is why you infer nothing from the stats after playing a trash FCS school like Samford.

 

Does that include when they put 50 points on the board against us a couple years ago?

 

It annoys me when people bring up his running ability first like he’s Cam Newton 2.0. The kid can absolutely let it rip and he’s accurate as hell. He improved greatly as a senior last year.
