Wasn’t Tebow’s first start against a cupcake? That gave us a foreshadowing of what was to come.

 

Lagway had a great game but it was against Samford.

Many of us realize what Mertz did last year and aren’t going to ignore that because of last week with zero O line help.

We seen big games from fresh players over the years a know a sample size greater than 1 is needed before we anoint someone as the Dude.

That’s all.

 

Here’s my thing: I really, really like what I see from Lagway, I’m excited about his potential and want to see him play more…..BUT against better teams we have so many other deficiencies…….can Lagway actually make enough of a difference to win games? Perhaps he can but if not perhaps he shouldn’t be in there.

 

it makes sense to make A&M prepare for both, but was does Mertz bring that Lagway doesn’t?

We didn't look that good. But neither did Kentucky, or FSU, or UCF, or Miss St., or ND (who beat A&M).

 

Last year Mertz - mid-season - was pretty reliable to not make stupid mistakes and he was able to keep the offense moving against good teams. The defense was really the issue more than the offense. Got to play both of them but Mertz is a good QB.

 

It's not the team we played that matters, it's the straight-up rocket-arm, pinpoint, accurate passes that D.J. Lagway made in the game that matters.

 

Not sure why you put experience in quotes like it's fake. Mertz probably does some things better than Lagway at this point. I still think you play Lagway.

Prior record for a Uf true freshman qb was 273 yards. Opponent was lower level but still a massive performance for a true freshman. Super stoked for Lagway.

 

I’d retire after that. Go out on top!

 

You think a coach that uses the same five plays over and over for two and change seasons is going to change up everything in one week? It would be great but don’t hold yo breath.
