and i hear that a school from the Northeast that also wears orange and blue (darker shade mind you) is showing a definite interest in Mr. Mullen

Who brought in those juniors and seniors? Does he get the credit for bringing in players who have experience AND a positive impact? Or are they all left overs from the god awful Taggert? Who, I might add, left that program in worse shape then Mullen left ours. Yes ACC is not SEC, I'm not arguing that, I'm arguing where they were compared to their peers vs us to ours.

He is a solid coach on game day, hence the reason it's night and day from Napier IMO.

Not sure what that has to do with the coach comparison, that sounds like a fan comparison, but ok.

I got a time out last year when I was noting those issues, sadly it’s more of the same.

You would be wrong. In 2000, Florida had the top ranked class in the nation, but many of those, including the crown jewel of that class, Brock Berlin, left, with Spurrier's blessing. In 2001, Spurrier had the 37th ranked class, and very few stayed. Now everyone will say Rex Grossman was there, but he was as much a detriment as an asset to Zaunbrecher's offense. Zook had 12 new starters his first year.

Of this we agree. I do not understand the direction Billy took us into at all. But don't think for a moment that Zook inherited a loaded team. It had holes throughout the lineup, and it wasn't until 2006 that his recruits really made an impact.

This is just not accurate in my opinion. Talk to any gator who played for Meyer and they will tell you “he is one of the scariest people you’ve ever met.“ intense and relentless focus on winning and never giving away an inch. All players know that false starts, throwing shoes, late hits or spitting are penalties. That crap only happens once, if at all, on disciplined teams because the coaches will bench or punish to extreme the undisciplined. The well prepared and disciplined teams don’t have to figure out what to do in the moment because they demand discipline quality every day.

Can you corroborate that? What you are saying is that SOS had it easier...

Yet we found a way to lose by 2 scores.

    First 2 years

    Norvell Napier Guess Who?
    3-6 6-7 5-7
    5-7 5-7 6-7

The Guess Who's teams found ways to lose too.

I would take 1 winless season to purge the pain rather than spreading it out over 3 straight losing seasons, which could become 4.

I was at UF during the Dickey era, recall 79 and had plenty of hope for a turnaround given Pell's success at Clemson. This feels much worse.

Yet he was strict, scary and they were scared yet we were still one of the most penalized teams. So what's that tell you? There's only so much a coach can do in that situation. Having depth to replace players would be a good deterrent

I'm with ya, and I don't disagree, but that was more hope than expectation for many of us.

Censoring, *sorry* Curtailing opinions negative or otherwise doesn't change them, and whether we see them on this board or not, they exist.

I certainly understand the deletion of posts with foul language.

So why did he struggle to beat our injury depleted team of mostly underclassmen?

And I like Norvell tbh, like was said he's a solid coach but curious what that amounts to if the superior coach struggled to beat us with our "inferior" coach?

No, he had to contend with a far better version of GSU than what we see these days. But the post I was quoting was about SEC records. Over all though in the SEC there is much more talent across the conference then there was in the 90's not to mention more teams in the conference. How often did you see ole miss in the top 10 with one of the better offenses in the league during SOS time at UF? Now playing Mizzou wjonisnalsona top 10 team that wasn't in the conference then.

Mostly just Bama and Tenn with a little bit of uga and lsu every so often. Much more parity in the league now, the SEC's prestige has grown massively since the run of titles

By FSU standards this may not even be in their top 10 of most talented teams yet here they are undefeated. So do you credit them for taking a 2-3 loss team and running the table or criticize them for not being as good as past FSU teams and throttling us?

You’re wrong. Banning message board posters is a very necessary part of the program building process. Sun belt Billy said so. And the mods just take sun belt Billy at his word all the time.
