I agree, I love competition. But my point is, I really don’t have much confidence in Napier’s coaching ability after what I’ve witnessed the past two years. We’ve had too many L’s that should’ve been W’s. Too many times we’ve played not to lose, which resulted in those L’s. I can’t count the number of times I said WTF (in regards to coaching decisions/playcalls) this year. The schedule next year is not very forgiving.
Look. I don’t want to be argumentative but I think you’ve got it all wrong. DEFCON 5 is the bad one. We’re going that way.
considering that some teams have fired their O or D coordinators before the season is over, i would say yes, people do blame the teachers
half assed u even with losing their qb has more talent than we do- am unsure why all the need for so much venom- we played the number 5 team down to the wire- they just wore us down and did what they needed to do to win
He has creativity, he just employs it at the exact wrong time. We had what, 3 straight 3 and outs in the 2nd half, not 1 creative play.
Yep, and the fans are mostly crybabies too... I misread your original post/message, so for that I apologies to you.
Because we dominated them for like 25ish minutes. The proof of concept was laid out, Brown was like 5-6 passing on 3rd down, then we just stopped throwing the ball until we trailed.
Didn't like going for the shock play after ETN kick return following safety. Since we were running fairly effectively(and can't pass protect for $hi+), I would have preferred to run a 4 minute offense. At worst we settled for a FG, but at least burn plenty of clock. Not leave them time to go 90 yards and destroy our momentum from a half we dominated.
I can’t tell if O-line is scheme or talent. The prime suspect seems to be the problem, but most of the the time, he’s actually blocking someone, just not the player who blows up the play. If he blocks inside, the edge is free. If he blocks the edge, the blitzing LB is free. All season, they leave him on an island, despite all evidence that he can’t swim.
He screws up a lot but he’s still one of the best blockers we have. Play the guys you got. Hope for the best.
I’ve been saying this for 2 years. The game PLAN is not bad.. the calls/timing/use of tempo -clock are. It’s like they have no “feel” for when to call what
That's one extremely merciful spin. Here's the problem, though. You're measuring the teams by their rankings, without figuring in for how they earned their respective ranking. Our coaching has taken a team with great upside and earned 5 damn wins. Penalties, incredibly idiotic play calling for 2 straight years, zero discipline, zero adjustments, crappy special teams... FSU largely rode a stud hman candy QB to theirs. Tonight was a microcosm of both programs. FSU lost its horse. We started out with superior qb play. They started to figure us out...we made no adjustments. They did. ...and just like that, the #5 team started to look like the #5 team, and the 5 win team, started to look like a 5 win no bowl team. ...and We're supposed to be good with this?!?!?!?
Special teams was a problem yet again. Missed FG’s, long punt return at a critical time and we got lucky with the delay of game on their fake punt. ST was consistently a mess all season. I’m sure BN saw that it was a problem, but the fact that it didn’t improve is worrisome.
At least there won't be a quarterback controversy next year in Hogtown. Lagway will be the backup and learn the ropes from Mertz, who should be one of the top returning QBs in the SEC.
