Good: Napier went with the downfield pass & it worked well. Eight receivers got catches. Special teams showed up with 5 FG's, good punts, good returns & a partially blocked punt. The defense was solid for the most part.
Bad: Our o-line is below average without the starting center. We had two turnovers. Some players got dinged up.

Figured I’d put this up here since the pregame is closed:

    from clay gator

While I am not a betting man, I would be willing to lay a wager on the following:

    1. The team does not take the game seriously, and does not practice well this week.

    2. Because the team does not take the game seriously, they think all they need to do to win is show up and thus play poorly.

    3. The game is closer than expected early on, and there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth on this board. Chicken littles are running for cover.

    4. Starters play longer than desired, leading to even more wailing and gnashing of teeth.

    5. The Gators win comfortably, but not nearly as comfortably as they would have won if Spurrier had been coach.

    6. The tv business is booming the next day at BestBuy, after many remotes were thrown through screens.

    7. Emergency rooms see an uptick in admissions involving liver pain.

    8. Napier and staff get roasted on this board post game for not having the team ready to play, and a few dozen other transgressions. Can we bring Spurrier back?

Anyone have any ideas where I can place a bet on this?

Clay, do you have some powerball numbers for me?

There's criticism, and then there's all out bashing. We don't live in the 90s anymore, so you're just not going to see many 65-7 type of games, especially with a running clock. We did not look good today. Was it a shock? Not really. Bad week of practice. Let down after a big win. Had multiple on the O-Line out in the first half so we couldn't get in sync.

Could the playcalling be better? Absolutely. But, I think Napier is holding some stuff back. Chalk it all up, improve, and we should be full strength next week against Kentucky.

The offense really isn't good with Slaughter in the middle. I know not having the other starters didn't help, but, he gets pushed around a lot. Eguakan may be a make or break player for us.

That other QB was Jalon Jones who was a short term Gator. I believe he was kicked off for being a creep and it also cost us a 5 star DB (Steele) due to said creepiness.

    You forgot:

OG posters immediately overreact towards posts showing concern, and arrogantly interpret that as “panicking”

Your correct. We just aren’t allowed to be honest sometimes. I would have said scoring 30 would be disappointing. Easily should have put 35-40 on the board.

This board has become very intolerant. I’ve been on this board since Wuerffel was QB and it was never like this. Real football talk is not encouraged, only blind sunshine pumping. Through 4 games, we’ve had a total of three good halves of football. There’s plenty of room for discussion.

Brought my daughter to her first game in the Swamp. She loved it. I'll take a win any time.

I thought the crowd was great, especially being the game after UT against Charlotte.

I didn't understand the pass-first game plan when that just seems to cause struggles. It seemed so imbalanced. And I don't know why it took so long to test the perimeter on the running plays and then to go away from that after having success.

The D was solid but was getting many calls in really late. Mitchell struggled yet again. I don't know if anyone saw but with about minute to go Casteel came out limping quite a bit. We can't afford to have him miss Kentucky.

Anyway, had a great time with great seats and we got the W.

That’s always the go-to deflection when someone points out Napier/UF is struggling with an inferior opponent. “Yeah well Saban, Dabo and Kirby are struggling with inferior opponents too!” As if that’s supposed to make me feel better.

Why does Johnson start over ETN? ETN had 172 yards against UT. MJ had 23. Tonight, only 8 carries for ETN and 16 for MJ. 6 yards per carry for ETN, 3.9 yards per carry for Johnson. ETN is clearly the more productive and explosive back. He should be starting and getting more carries than MJ.

Says the guy who basically walked into this business and is telling everyone that another business is better.
I'm not taking it personal, I'm trying to figure out why you're here if thats the case.

Do you tell the people at the cafe that the food sucks and theres a better one down the street while still patronizing the business that you think sucks?

It's just weird. This is a private business with rules. We mods simply enforce them. No ones dragging you into the cafe and forcing food down your throat.

Tbats because Its obvious nothing can make you feel better especially when you disappear when we do very well. You only really speak when we don't RUTS. It doesn't change the fact that we still only allowed 7 points in this game and are only allowing 13.5 points per game through 4 games on defense.

The game was never in doubt, we were never tied or trailed. Mertz was 20/23 (87%) for 259 yards 1TD. We scored 6 times. Our special teams partially blocked a punt, nearly broke away for a kick return, hit all 6 kicks, we still were in line with our conference leading 35 yds of penalties per game average and oh yeah we and WON by 2 TD's. Had we turned those field goals Into TDs it would have been 42-7. That gives our team something to work for throughout the week and light a fire under their ass.

But aside from not scoring enough points because of redzone-endzone struggles and those 2 unfortunate fumbles we had no concerns of losing, there was no upset alert, we are still undefeated in conference play and the chance to greatly surpass what you and all the pundits predicted as a losing season are still on the table.
