Sometimes the light suddenly comes on. Players and coaches alike. Trying to keep hope alive. We need more than a freshman class to save us.

 

LMAOOO. You know why i'm to this point? The lack of on the field accountability being shown by the staff. These players are in position a lot of times to make plays and they aren't but guess what? You look at the next play or drive and they're right back out there. What kind of message is that sending when 3 and 8 get toasted and they're right back out there? It's Mullen and Marco Wilson all over again.

If people wanna say "the true freshmen db's aren't ready, can't play them yet"...bs. Get them on the field and let them play so they can put stuff on film and see in real time what they can hit the offseason needing to do to get better.

 

I get it. I am a big LOS guy and that is my number 1 concern. We can get skill players all over the place, but they are useless if the line sucks. We are seeing it.

S&C would be second. Team looks soft and flat too much for me.

 

Right now eight wins seems like a realistic ceiling for next year.

 

S&C is the reason about a month ago I made the thread about the WR's staying constantly hurt because I think that's a position coach that needs to be replaced after the season. Hocke hasn't gotten it done imo and I don't see any reason it's going to change

 

That was actually my point. Sorry about the confusion. I was sarcastically restating tommyvee's ridiculous argument that we've always hired the same level of unproven coaches. Our current crop is not up to UF standards.

Not really arguing anything you said but I would add that we got 5 sacks yesterday, that's I believe the most in a single game we've gotten all year. So their oline wasn't exactly protecting the QB.

 

I defer to you on the Donovan thing, btw. If you were a student at the time of his hire you would know better than I would what the general feeling on him was at the time.

Armstrong is a young guy who might be something one day, but we are basically going to have live with him learning or hire someone who already is established. I always vote for established coaches because you know what you are getting and if they have a track record of success, chances are they will be successful here too.

As far as bowls go, I can only hope we beat the Noles at this point to get that eligibility. They are beatable, but we will need some breaks to go our way.

 

Amen...If someone told me when that from when he started to two years later we would look the exact same and perform the exactly same Id say we made the wrong hire 100%. You cant keep complaining about the prior staff and players forever and you have to take whats yours and beat theirs at some point. You just caant keep rolling out the same crap over and over and look worse at years end than the beginning (and thats especially tough after that Utah game). As far as Im concerned no I dont want to wait 2 more years and then we still look uncoached. Someone needs to light a fire under him and that fire needs to be nuclear. We cant just keep getting our ass handed to us by every one of our rivals and say "wait till next year" or "2025 is the real year we return"...

I wonder if there has been any "players only" meetings? Does this team have any alpha dog leaders that are getting in the faces of the other players and trying to light some fire under them and get some accountability? Boy, it sure seems that is not happening. There seems to be no fire, urgency, whatever in players or BN. The defensive coordinator seems to have some juice but it is not translating to the players.
