Note to Mrs Napier: Maybe avoid Publix for a while. :D

While plenty of stupid things are being posted, you'll never convince me that ours fans are worse than any of our rivals.

Such a ridiculous take. Mullen had a couple of good early seasons as well. He's unemployed now. Just because a first year coach had some success doesn't mean he'll be elite for the long haul.

Fans are to use their brains. This isn't getting fixed without major roster overhaul. The notion that if he just called different plays we'd be markedly better is silly.

No-that wasn't my point at all-just feel the answer is not to want to fire a coach that has been here exactly 1 year

I have no idea if Napier is going to turn this around or not but I feel less confident today than I did a year ago. No choice but to wait and see what happens but I don't fault any one for expressing doubts right now

Well we are in for a long road ahead because Billy will be here for at a minimum 2 more seasons maybe 3 . Then what ? Hire someone else with the chances that won’t work either . The best thing that could happen is that Billy go out and get the most exciting, creative, high scoring guy he can get to call plays . If Tony isn’t the guy then go out and get an SEC qualified coach . Billy needs to be the ceo and over look the whole thing .

I wouldn't characterize those hires as bad luck. They were poor decisions by individuals who were paid a lot of money to make correct ones.

The mess we have now is a direct result of those decisions and 12 years of neglect of this program.

There is no alternative but to give Napier the time and tools needed to turn this around.

I repeat, there is no miracle Head Ball Coach out there just waiting to save our program.

LOL, you listed 3 reasons why not. Can UF be on par, sure.

But, to be superior? Of course it is possible, anything is. Would I bet money on it? Absolutely not.

I agree, I just don't think SunBelt will do what it takes. I'll place a Dukes brothers bet on it.

Fair enough. Just saying if the goal is championships, we shouldn't just accept Saban, Kirby, and Kelly outrecruiting us. It should all be on the table. If it easy? Definitely not, I get your point.

I certainly don't see one right now. If there is one, I think most of the time it's obvious like with Urban Meyer, Nick Saban... or a guy with a special connection to your program, like Kirby for Georgia or Spurrier for Florida. If an opportunity arises, I think we should take it.

But we need to stop with the firing first, searching for candidates later. That's a great way of getting caught with your pants down.:D

    Easier said than done.

Napier was, by all accounts, a slam dunk hire. Arguably the best hire of last year’s coaching carousel.

I think a lot of people across the CFB world are surprised by what happened this year.

Our path back to where we want to be is a lot shorter/faster if Napier gets the program fixed on his own without AD meddling (forced firing of buddies, etc). Will that happen?

I think we have to define what superior is right? In the UGA vs UF game this year, I would consider UGA's talent to be superior. If Ala and UGA had faced off in the SECCG, I would have agreed UGA had an advantage, but not superior. Superior to me is up and down the 22 one side has the better player in almost every position.

With the portal as it is, I think being superior is going to become even rarer than it had been in the past in college football in general.

Highest ceiling hire maybe, but I think Lincoln Riley would like a word.

There's no question that Riley and even Brian Kelly would have had a bigger initial impact and would have the same if not better chance of success here.

They were not attainable. I don't think either one of them wanted this job and our administration wasn't going to pay them what they wanted either.

Riley didn’t want to coach in the sec and Kelly wasn’t considered a good long term option

Yeah, I don't understand how anyone can be too upset with Napier's playcalling. What the hell is he supposed to do different? Could we run outside more often? Maybe. Could we call more HB screens? Sure. Would it make a difference? Hard to say, but it's easy to be critical from your couch after the fact if it doesn't work out. I think it's the lack of execution that's a much bigger issue than the playcalling or overall gameplan/scheme/strategy.

Outside of our strong RB room, what did we have on offense this year? An average offensive line, a talented but wildly inconsistent QB, and a group of pass catchers that were collectively WELL below average. Other than Pearsall and Henderson (who was banged up quite often) I think our WRs and TEs would have a hard time cracking the starting lineup for Toledo.

You can't be one dimensional and win consistently. The bottom line is that we just don't have the horses......yet.
