Portal Needs for 2025

Does this come with any assumptions who might be leaving early for the draft? I see both sides of the line being affected heavily by who goes and who stays. QB, RB, WR, TE will have little to no affect from early entries. I'm with you though, which positions have the greatest needs depending on several outcomes.

 

If all the OTs and DTs return, portal additions aren't necessarily a need.

I just learned about him. Perfect prospect for what CBN is looking to add at WR (6.4, sub 4.4 40).

From what I understand Lyons will be able to participate in the spring.

LOT: Barber, Westphal, Mascoll, Dice
ROT: Manuel, Jones, Wangoy, Medlock

DT: Lyons, Robinson, Taylor, Mbatchou, McCloud, Brown
NT: Banks, Boireau, Shivers, Scott

 

Right now we're evaluating every position. Then we will be strategic about who we bring in for visits. We'll bring in more players for visits this year because there's an unlimited number'

Really, what are the mixed reviews?

For "mixed reviews" with the OL, I've seen a lot of BS, lol. We had posters making stuff up in the off season to complain about Slaughter and George. So, specificlly what are the mixed reviews and who's the source?

My take on Manuel is he played well for the little he played. I remember one bad play against Miami, then pretty clean after that. I believe PFF gave him higher grades than Barber the first three games. The issue for me is we don't know why he hasn't played since September. It would be great if he played in the bowl game.

 

If we have the money, we get Silvers regardless if Lyons looks like the 6 million dollar man right now. We could be elite at DT then if Boireau and Robinson keep coming on.

 

Most criticism i heard about George was that he shouldn't play OT and should be inside and for Slaughter that he should gain weight. Surprisingly enough that is what the staff told them too, and both were better for following their coaches' instruction. Not all "criticism" is bad, nor meant to be criticism, and these are paid athletes, especially OL who do really good with NIL.

 

Yeah, of course if there’s some high end 5* DT that wants to come to UF then welcome him aboard. One more Sr. DT like Silvers would be a perfect addition. Adding more than that could be a slippery slope. Don’t want to go too hard at DT and create attrition.

As it stands now, this is the projected 2025 DT depth chart:

DT: Lyons, Robinson, Taylor, Mbatchou, McCloud, Brown
NT: Banks, Boireau, Shivers, Scott

UF has won a lot of football games with less than that at DT.
