Trump and company will try to turn the country into something like Hungary where there are elections but the opposition is never allowed to win them.

Therefore, this election could be the last fair and free presidential one this country ever sees.

That's one possibility. The other is that Trump will screw things up so badly that 2028 will be a landslide win for the Dems.

Democrats will win big in 2028 because ron desantis will try to challenge J D Vance in the primaries

 

This is what I think. Plus another 4 years of USSC taking people’s rights away and I think the pendulum swings back hard.

 

I also don’t think Vance or whoever the heir apparent is when the time comes will be able to rope in the deplorable vote like he does. Some never trumpers might come back into the GOP fold to keep them competitive but I think MAGA more or less dies with Trump.

 

Will probably go about like UK and Brexit. I guess we didn’t learn our version of that lesson yet.

Populist nuttery never leads to economic success. I’m not watching convention, but the few seconds I had news on I saw a bunch of “lower prices now” signs as they panned the crowd. So these people must legit think tariffs and mass deportions will… lower their prices? Umm. Yeah, good luck with that.

 

2028. Trump will be too old to run again IMO, and a post-Trump Republican party might have some issues uniting behind a new candidate. Also the media will have 4 more years to complain about Trump and frame the next rising generation of Republican candidates as another Trump.

TDS will outlive Trump's political career by at least one election cycle IMO.

 

I agree with this. I worry about trump being president for life but I don’t think this will happen. I think women and the young are going to exercise their franchise like crazy. This is the last gasp of the knuckle draggers.
