And Mitch did away with the filibuster when it was to the Republicans advantage. Best example was the confirmation of Trump's SCOTUS nominations. He also used reconciliation which required a simple majority to enact Trump's budget busting tax cut. By the way don't try to rationalize Mitch's move to do away with the filibuster for SCOTUS nominees with Harry Reid's decision to eliminate it for nominations to lower federal courts. Unlike lower courts the decisions of the Supreme Court are final. They have as much if not more weight than legislation. Decisions by lower courts are appealable they are not final.
Not a good option no matter who is in power. A 60 vote requirement ensures that we aren't just cramming legislation down the throats of the people who happened to vote in the 49% minority.
