Lol, if they came in illegally, they broke the law. Why is that so hard for you to understand? Now I do agree with you that most of them are good people who just want to work and provide for their families, but when don't need any more sickos from any country, we have plenty of our own that we can't control

Sorry your example of border security turned into a Republican reflection moment.

Most of us who don't live in bubbles also understand the issue of undocumented citizens not reporting crime and working with local LEOs is not a new problem. San Francisco was having this very issue decades ago, which is why it was the first US city to decide that local law enforcement agencies don't have to cooperate with Feds on immigration issues. Immigration is Fed jurisdiction, and there is nothing in the Constitution that states locals need to cooperate with Feds when there are clear jurisdictional lines. In 1989, San Francisco declared itself a sanctuary city.

Since then, many other cities and counties followed suit. And the result? Sanctuary cities have less crime and generally safer than non-sanctuary cities of similar sizes. Don't like the first link? Here's another.

The studies also found that most of the crime involving undocumented immigrants aren't committed by the immigrants. But rather, they are the victims. Having the immigrants feel safe with working with local LEOs reduces this crime, as studies show. It also makes sense undocumented immigrants commit less crime when there are here. They have more to lose. If you walked hundreds, if not thousands of miles to escape horrific conditions, and found a job here in the US, would you risk it all, including a return trip, by being caught committing a crime?

As for the fact that these immigrants did commit a misdemeanor by either coming here undocumented or overstaying a Visa, I quote MLK Jr., "One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws." Our immigration laws are unjust and serve nobody.

Labor is a commodity, and like any commodity, a shortage of supply will lead to increase in prices. Florida is leading the nation in inflation right now, and part of it has to do with the fact unemployment is incredibly low. Something like 2.1% in Dade County right now. 4% is the target, because when unemployment is below this, it creates inflationary pressure. Not saying all of Florida's problems are due to the new immigration law which is causing labor shortages, but it's likely one of the primary causes Florida's inflation is more than double the national average.

Now yes, I would gladly pay a little more if it meant removing monsters like the one in the OP. But it's not an either/or proposition. I believe, while we can't be 100% safe, we can reduce the risks of allowing monsters to emigrate into this country while still providing the needed immigrant labor. It's the solution two bi-partisan committees came up with, including the Gang of 8 in 2013. Expanded Guest Worker program where part of the process is vetting the immigrants and doing a background check on each one. Now again, won't eliminate the risk, but certainly lower the risk.

If he’s been here 20 years how did the School he worked at not know he wasn’t here legally?

Seems like there should be some very deep evaluation of prospective employees before they are hired.
