Play-Off Game: #7 Notre Dame vs #2 Georgia -- Sugar Bowl -- 1/2/2025 at 4 PM [ESPN] (Updated)

WELL - I finally get to root for Notre Dame in a football game.

 

And I hope he is terrible.

We were ok the 1st half..

 

Yup...pretty sure Rhett was over 100 yds in the first half.

 

Don't like either of these teams but dislike Georgia more for obvious reasons.
Sick and tired of Notre Dame getting preferental treatment.
Want to see them play in a conference and also deal with a conference championship game.

Dealt with my hatred toward Georgia before Spurrier and then it meant nothing after SOS.
However, the articles in the papers about the reasons to hate Georgia during Georgia week just cemented my dislike for them.

As I stated in another post, I hope Notre Dame wins but doesn't make it to the final game.

 

Really like ND QB Riley Leonard. He was with Duke last year. Excellent runner and passer.

 

Hope Kirby has more grey hairs tomorrow morn.

 

It's not a first:

 

Tough game to predict. ND is favored, but GA is more battle-tested and has been in the playoff just about every year. On paper, looks like ND should win, but GA could be stout on D and make some big plays/turnovers. Will be very interesting to see how their backup QB performs.

 

After that game all I heard was how you should never bet against Lou Holtz in a big game and I was blue in the face trying to explain it wasn't a big game.
Florida had absolutely nothing to gain and ND had nothing to lose.
It's a lot easier playing when you have nothing to lose!

It was still a pretty big deal for the Gators....the chance to win the Sugar Bowl back when that bowl mattered to SEC teams and UF hadn't been in almost 20 years. Also a very outside chance to win a natty if UM and UDub each lost (since they weren't playing each other). By the time of the game, the latter was most likely off the table, but going into the day it was unlikely but possible.

 

He looks like a Uga QB...

 

It was my first time in New Orleans, my first Sugar Bowl..had a great time..stayed right on Bourbon Street at the Bourbon Orleans...it was fun until the second half of the game...

 

If the postseason thus far holds, ND wins, probably beats PSU then gets waxed by OSU.

 

Go Irish! Beat the butt sniffers!

 

Here's to ND having the men on the LOS to handle georgia.
