Well, nobody has Jay Wright so that would be quite difficult to make happen since he isn’t coaching. But you never answered my question. Which would you rather have as your head coach, Golden or McMahon? Or, would you still prefer White? You were quite the admirer of White from what I’ve heard.

The well became far too poisoned for White to remain at Florida. And so that move was needed.
Neither Golden nor McMahon were on my list at the time of hire…so I didn’t and still don’t have a real verdict between the two.
I preferred either Jans or Matta. And so, if I was gonna trade coaches, I guess I’d look to Starkville.
But there is still a lot I like about Golden.
On a side note… who told ya I was a fan of Coach White? Cincy? Tupac? I wish those guys were still around… they’d probably have an opinion on this thread. ;)

Our woes so far this season are multi faceted , but I think if you had to oversimplify and come up with one thing, it’s that it seems we totally whiffed on Lofton.
Low energy, not a great shooter, not terribly athletic, and a poor fit for an otherwise athletic team.

Weird, b/c he was considered a significant portal addition by multiple sources

I can't imagine this team accomplishing much if he does not turn the corner. As I said, cultivate Aberdeen via the second platoon and if either he or Lofton are not showing up in the game, put Bonham in their place. Great energy and fearless play but limited in size.

I like the platoon strategy but I'm too depressed about this team and the FB team to analyze the situation. It's the worst I've felt about the teams collectively in many years.

Lofton is 42nd in the country in assist-to-turnover ratio, which is the primary gauge of point guards. He'd be higher than that if our guys could make open shots. What corner exactly do you want him to turn?

A good portion of his responsibility is to initiate offense. And this offense often begins with what happens off a high screen. Lofton has not been able to get the offense going bc he simply hasn’t done much coming off that screen. He needs to “turn the corner” In a literal sense… get toward the hoop and get the defense reacting. But as heady of a player he may be… and it shows on his assist:turnover… he hasn’t shown the speed, athleticism or perimeter shots to be a threat that effectively initiates our offense.
This is why Bonham has become such an important piece. I don’t think Golden planned on playing two pgs, and the early lineups suggest such. But I think it became apparent that Lofton was struggling in this aspect of his role. Bonham is lacking size, so he also isn’t ideal… but he has speed, and a willingness to create and/or step back for 3. His actions cause defensive reactions.

Yes, but he’s #161 in assists per game, so the favorable ratio doesn’t really tell the whole story.
Underscores AKAs point about not initiating offense
