FAFO. Yes; Trump, FAA, and DOD. They must answer.

For what it is worth, ATC are reporting they received offers and ATM’s were briefed.

    Two things.

I was on vacation last weekend with my best friend who was an ATC controller who became a stay at home dad recently. He was telling us that he would never go back because ATC is so short staffed it's now a requirement that they all work 6 days. It's going to get even worse because there are no young ATCs joining the career because you are basically a trainee for 5 years and you can't be hired past 30 years old. And there is a mandatory retirement age as well.

On this vacation I flew an AA plane, same model, into Reagan. This was a few days ago.

One of my dad's friends was an ATC like 20 years ago and complained about the things then, he always said it was extremely stressful

My ATC buddy told me he believes the helicopter was instructed to pass behind the jet, but may have mistaken the jet for a different one. Proceeding to fly right into the original jet. This jives with what you're saying.

It's a terrible, very well paying career, according to everyone I know

Regarding the prescient CNN story, CNN most likely rewrote a story written earlier in the day which would not change the publishing time. I wonder if this could be a trick to get more views for a story.

As for the disaster, rumor I saw on X said the military helicopter apparently was on a training flight.

I listened to the air traffic control audio and all I can say is my hearing wouldn't have been good enough to pick up on a warning on how to avoid a collision

As for this being some sort of great tragedy, 100 or so people die every day in car crashes.

The ones that complain about identity politics are always the ones identity politicking. I'm sure with every tragedy your first thought is to wonder it was a caused by a black person or a woman

    Any chance this was intentional?

The New Orleans and Trump Tower explosion were from active military folks weren’t they?

The conspiracy theorists probably dont get just how hard it is to have two aim a blackhawk into a landing jet. It's not like it shot it down with heat seaking ammo. I mean to line up from a long distance and time the intersecting point would be impossible.

My gf has been in Arlington for the week attending a conference. She texted me this morning to let me know her flight today from Reagan had been cancelled. I asked her if she had seen the news. I guess she checked it out after I asked her that. I'd be lying if I said that the thought of this happening to her didn't have me a little shook.

NYT reporting many US and international junior figure skaters, trainers and family/friends aboard the flight leaving a post-US Nationals training camp in Wichita last week, many of them Russian.

    Just an awful situation.

Figure Skaters Among Passengers on Plane That Crashed Outside Washington D.C.

“We are devastated by this unspeakable tragedy and hold the victims’ families closely in our hearts,” said the statement from Alex Schauffler, the communications director for U.S. Figure Skating. As of early Thursday morning, no fatalities had been confirmed.

Jon Maravilla, an American pairs figure skater, told RIA Novosti, a Russian state news agency, that there were “about 14 figure skaters on the plane, not counting their parents and coaches.”
