What Jim did was a complete asshat move. He took a major rival job in secret at least one week before the last game of the season which happened to be the national championship game. Begs the questions of how much focus did you really have that week coaching that a&m team. If I was a recruit I sure as hell wouldn’t believe anything he says. A liar and someone whose motivations are power and money. Two programs in the same state that clearly don’t like each other and you immediately bolt for that rival program. Good luck living in that state moving forward.
What a POS as a man, IMO. Yea, yea ..."It's a free country, yada-yada..." This is rank opportunism and blatant greed. I wouldn't trust this man if he said the sun was rising in the East tomorrow. Sometimes I detest the world as it is. And why we elevate sporting figures to receive our praise and adulation is beyond me when so, so many show no signs of being worthy of anything other than "Throws a little ball really fast." It's gross. Rant over.
He also reportedly confronted that reporter after the presser too and told him never to talk to him again.
I still can’t figure out the move. aTm can match Texas dollar for dollar and they lost the NC game by 1 run. It is possible to win at aTm.
You may not believe anything he says, but I wonder how relevant that would be if you also are motivated by money and success. NIL and track record are likely louder than this move for top level athletes. We'll see. Don't get me wrong; I hate the move, and I think it's a bad look for college baseball. I just don't think it represents a significant distraction in how talent is acquired. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
This is insane, even in the no loyalty cutthroat business of college athletics. The entire program has been gutted in 48 hours after losing what would've been the first national championship in school history by one run. Honestly with what we know now, in retrospect it's kind of amazing they made the championship series.
I cannot understand his reply to reporter, why would he say basically I'm here and staying when he knew he was going to Texas? Could have said no comment or I'm focused on what happened in this series. But to out and out lie not a good look.
TVit will be treated like a king at UT. He is not going anywhere. They will throw in the kitchen sink to keep him at UT and I honestly believe he likes it there. I have had contact with him personally and he couldn't be any nicer. He is very passionate about winning and being at UT and is making a name for himself. He has a great rapport with his players and the fans are crazy about him.
