Disagree, I think he lays it out pretty well based on their respective histories. Ego happens to be a huge part of it.

Jimbo fires himself as OC in order to keep his job as HC.

Smart move, but unless he's trying to save face, doesn't he have an enormous buyout?

No evidence of egos leading to failures though or how insubordinate Petrino was as an assistant. Just a bunch of it’s bad because these two dudes got big heads without anything to back it up IMO.

    LSU freek...classic.

Now if we can hire a decent OC that isn't a scumbag...there has to be someone. What about the other LSU guy, ole gravel voice? Maybe he was a DC? Worth a shot! He was only a semi-scumbag...:eek:

    Oh well.

    Go Gators.:)

Yes, frankly I don't understand why all of these overpaid, multimillionaire head coaches with buyouts made in heaven don't pull Dan Mullens and just quit coaching on the job, i.e. "how soon can you fire me?"

Freeze and Petrino back in the SEC. Durkin, adazzio, Petrino and Jimbo all on the same staff? Kiffen vs Freeze. Kelly vs Jimbo. Petrino Vs Kiffen. Freeze vs Saban. The on and off field stuff Is amazing, I love it. Being a writer or podcaster in the SEC WEST is like a dream job. It’s like covering the Big East basketball in the 80s but better.
I wish UF would get over our Stanford hang up of “we’re better than you and do it the right way” fetish and just try and win. We do better when we have someone everyone can hate but kinda love. Everyone hates us anyway…. Might as well lean into it. I want up tempo OC’s, utilizing speed, dogs on D that hit like Louis Oliver and lawrence Wright, aggressive DLines, flashy uniforms, a feared swamp, a coach that talks a little trash and backs it up and HAAAATES our rivals. I don’t really care if I like the coach…. Last I checked he’s not hanging out with me anyway.
Having said that- A&M is gonna fail miserably and it’s gonna be so fun to watch lol

    In my head--- UF
Bobby P quit on the Falcons

Before that snuck into Auburn to discuss coaching job not yet vacant …’When confronted, Petrino denied the meeting and proceeded to lie for several more days.’

Then he lied to his wife about the sec he was having with his subordinate

This guy is a bad character and a cancer for any program

    Thank you for saying this.
I can't stand Jimbo and don't care much for Petrino, so I was drawn to the article like a magnet.
But then I read it and realized...it was a bunch of nothing.
As you said- writer manufactured drama.

Jimbo could have handled the press conference better, but who cares.

I do hope both men fall flat on their faces and TAMU is set back many years for hiring these scumbags.

Tamu podcast funny yesterday, Jimbo, as usual explains all problems on play execution (the players) and then proceeded to say that every offense in the country is "The Same".

The guy is insufferable and a real A Hole with his media and the local media is getting very fed up.

Refused to discuss Petrino and the offense at all except to say he will "work with him".

I am no Petrino fan but Matt Hayes may be correct.

The tamu podcast folks were pretty critical of Jimbo. Basicly said, the first 6 games would decide his fate, irregardless of the contract.

I can't help but keep thinking this was some sort of genius move behind the scenes to humiliate Dumbo so much he would get angry and walk away because he is being made to look so bad. Constantly. Games obviously haven't even started yet either. His "legacy" is taking hit-after-hit.

Hayes said it was a win-win for Dumbo . . . What if it's a lose-lose? Petrino turns the offense around, and to the degree he does, Dumbo looks equally inept. Why is Petrino so much better when they're paying Dumbo $100MIL? Petrino fails and Dumbo can't even hire, get out of the way or work with, one of the best OCs in the country. What's wrong with Fisher?

    It will certainly stay entertaining.

FWIW...met one of Petrino's players who played for him at Missouri State, and he said he loved playing for him. Couldn't stop talking about how great of a guy he was.

Comedy aside, I don’t like this. Petrino is a hell of an offensive mind. When he was at Arkansas I heard Spurrier say that they had the best blocking schemes and protection in the country.

BTW, does Candi live in College Station?
