    Wow.
    1. Has Hegarty been proven to be a rapist, a drunk and a fraud. Please provide links. If not you are just lying.
    2. How quick we all forget Slick Willy having his jollies in the White House. How quick we forget that many many Dems justified it by saying they don’t care what he does in his personal life as long as his policies are good. Monica and Gennifer might disagree of course.
    3. While we attack these public figures… let’s look at the all those in congress. How many have marital .. strife? How many have dipped into the slush fund
that exists for the sole purpose of covering up and getting rid of the lawsuits that arise from their “indiscretions”.
To act like anyone in Washington isn’t covered in muck and mire is asinine.
    Finding Jesus…
Is not an excuse. Well.. it shouldn’t be.
Hopefully when people find Jesus they find a new path and turn from the old way they lived.
Did Hegarty change his life? Did Trump. Did Bill Clinton? Will Hunter?

I truly do not know. I can only hope.

Hegseth’s nomination to be Sec Def passed out of committee (14R-13D) today. His nomination now advances to the full Senate.

Hegseth's ex-wife denies the allegations of the sister-in-law although I have to wonder if there was some form of NDA as part of their divorce agreement. Also this is what Hegseth's own mother said about the way he treated the same ex-wife:
Mrs. Hegseth emailed her son on April 30, 2018, during a turbulent period in his life. He was in the middle of a contentious divorce from his second wife, Samantha, the mother of three of his children. Samantha Hegseth filed for divorce after her husband impregnated a co-worker, part of a pattern of adultery that dated back to his first marriage.

Mr. Hegseth’s mother wrote in the email that she was upset about his treatment of Samantha, writing: “For you to try to label her as ‘unstable’ for your own advantage is despicable and abusive. Is there any sense of decency left in you?” “She did not ask for or deserve any of what has come to her by your hand,” she said. “Neither did Meredith,” Mrs. Hegseth added, referring to his first wife.

Samantha Hegseth responded to the allegations via email, according to NBC News: “First and foremost, I have not and will not comment on my marriage to Pete Hegseth. I do not have representatives speaking on my behalf, nor have I ever asked anyone to share or speak about the details of my marriage on my behalf, whether it be a reporter, a committee member, a transition team member, etc.”

Samantha Hegseth added, “I do not believe your information to be accurate, and I have cc’d my lawyer.”

“There was no physical abuse in my marriage. This is the only further statement I will make to you, I have let you know that I am not speaking and will not speak on my marriage to Pete. Please respect this decision.”

Dietrich is represented by Leita Walker of Ballard Spahr, which “has a strong financial connection to Biden and some Democratic politicians,” according to the Pennsylvania Capital-Star. The news outlet reported:

Individual attorneys at Ballard Spahr have been politically active for at least the last three decades, according to data from Open Secrets. And their giving has skewed to Democrats.

But the firm’s political largesse nearly quadrupled in the Trump era. The previous high was $272,000 in 2008. In 2016, the firm’s attorneys gave $846,000. By 2020, political giving increased to more than $955,000, including $148,450 from a newly active political action committee.

According to the Capitol-Star, the firm hosted a virtual inauguration event for former President Joe Biden in 2020 with the Pennsylvania and Delaware Democratic Parties. It was also reported that one of the biggest beneficiaries of the donations was Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), who attacked Hegseth during his confirmation hearing.

According to OpenSecrets.org, former Vice President Kamala Harris was the top recipient in 2024.

Shocker. It's amazing how this has been the Democrats playbook for 40+ years and it never gets called out.

Hegseth is the opposite of qualified to be in ANY position of responsibility, with the possible exception those with endemic levels of alcoholism like a lawyer, doctor, or construction worker.

Of course he doesn't have the credentials to do any of those jobs, but I digress. He had a perfect job at Faux!

I guess having this extremism, white nationalist lunatic front and center will give cover for the Trump grifting our national secrets to the highest bidder in background while he gets kickbacks for not doing things he was for before the money hit the Swiss bank account, like banning Tik-Tok.

But hey MAGA, go for it!

Put this national embarrassment-in-waiting over our national defense! What could possibly go wrong?

Go ahead and let China, Russia, and Iran carve out their own spheres of influence, start a thousand bush wars, so Trump and his family can grift a few bucks out of every transaction with no coherent plan and see where we end up.

Damn, when 4 Americans died in Benghazi or 13 in the Afghanistan withdrawal it was the end of the world, but when it was an actual REM "End of the World as We Know It" with a million dead Americans or even when Jared hands American citizens over to face Saudi chain saw dismemberment, curiously there is only silence!

No one should be scrutinized for the laughable cures of bleach cocktails or ivermectin IVs after they dismantled the White House pandemic response team after all!!

Guess what, he is doing it again. This time he is ending research funding on COVID. Damn curious - that couldn't happen again right?

So when it blows up in your face as it is destined to do, we will just tell you "we told you so" - if anyone is left to care.

Zero accountability and maximum hypocrisy here we come - the MAGA Death Cult is back baby!

Although Hegseth is unqualified for the position by virtue of both character and especially experience he will probably be confirmed on a strictly party-line vote with a bare minimum of 51 or 52 votes in the Senate. I wouldn't be surprised if JD Vance ends up casting the tie-breaking vote necessary to give the Republicans the 51 votes required to confirm Hegseth.

Why would the Senate go along with having a Trump crony get into their state's defense contracts and potentially hold Congress hostage?

Trump can't run again, and the safe bet is that he will make a mess of these next 4 years, so really there is no downside for out waiting him and telling him to pound sand and put a qualified individual in place for the good of the country.

Voting to totally neuter yourself by giving the ability to have Trump interfere in your rice bowl seems like a really bad idea for a supposedly independent branch of government.

At this point Trump's support of Hegseth is a matter of ego. He wants to demonstrate that he can bend the Senate to his will. Trump and his allies are effectively strong arming certain Republican Senators who represent swing votes on Hegseth's nomination through the threat of being primaried when they run for reelection, a primary example being Joni Ernest who was leaning to towards voting against Hegseth and flipped after she was threatened.

Yes, Kamala proved to us that Democrats know how to waste a ton of money on poorly performing operatives. I'm not sure you want to include it on a resume, but can't hate you for getting yours at the same time.

Unless there is a surprise at this point she and possibly Susan Collins will be the only Republican nos. Hopefully I'm wrong but the chances are that Trump has probably successfully intimidated the rest of the Republican senators to vote to confirm Hegseth.

I would say the many associates, co-workers and military who have worked with or still work with Pete and have nothing but the best things to say about him speaks volumes. I believe it says a lot that so many people have vouched for him.
