Plenty have asked and he says he’s open to re-evaluating it. He’s had some success with his current approach and being heavily involved in play calling gives him a good pulse of the team during weekly prep and in game.

Will put. For me I can't help wonder that if we made a list of sec OCs where would Napier fall? As just a purely OC, I think we might get quite far down the list before we hit his name. That's a problem. Spurrier was a transcendent OC. Say what you want about Dan Mullen but the man was an excellent OC and play collar. Success comes from having a top tier OC at the helm of the offense.

Yea, Jimbo just gave up play calling this year when he hired Bobby Petrino. Malzahn gave up playcalling this year as well IIRC.

Since Jimbo and Malzahn were at one time good I think that is more a statement to coaches once they get into their 50s losing their fastball for play calling and having to turn it over to someone else. Napier’s question is was he ever actually good?

An OC didn't help Brian Kelly last night.

Valid point…and probably the most unmentioned point when we talk about Billy’s play calling. I think his ULL teams were Top 3 in offense in the Sunbelt. Not some crazy offensive genius, but at the top 1/3 in the country I would say. It’s more inline with who Kirby would hire as an OC that none of us would care about.

They’ve danced around it but yes… Orlando reporter asked him today the question “in your last 3 games you have not had a lot of punch … is there a common thread and would you make changes”
Napier “that’s a question for the end of the year. A lotta football to be played”

You’re only allowed to mention the things he does when they make us look bad.

Yes he did. He was a code thing to Superman running went he got that mentality. I always think of that run against fsu last year when I think of what he was capable of.

In 2021 ULL was #62 nationally in yards per game and #45 in scoring.

I watched every play of that Misery game.
Regardless of the opponent, their kids are better coached than ours.
And the proof will be our game at the end of the season before FSU.
I would not be surprised if Mizzou "upsets" us in the least.

And I’d say Burney really won that game at the end.
