    What? Making an impact?
All his message has to do is push people toward DeSantis and away from Trump.

He certainly can do that in a close race.
He likely had no chance, but can impact the race in other ways.

Pence is a mixed bag IMO. I think he knew what he was getting into with Trump. He enabled him for years. But he also did the right thing when it came down to it. I'm ultimately glad he was in the VP office and not any handful of other folks that could have launched us into a constitutional crisis.

he’s not calling him out in bold fashion. It’s telling that you think he is.

    Because team GOP

I can think of 5 GOP’s who slam trump on the air. Sununu, hogan, Cheney kinsinger and Toomey. All but one are out of office

When he was still in office, he had the ability to expose Trump's plan to illegally stay in office and didn't do so. Instead, he called Dan Quayle to see if he could do what Trump wanted.

His so-called bravery is very situational.

At the end of the day, you have to give him some kudos for doing the right, legal and ethical thing. It doesn't mean I think he is bold or brave, but I'm glad he did what he did that day. However, I think he's a religious nut job and quite dangerous in his own right.

I think it's also possible that he saw himself in this way. A necessary counter balance. If Pence had ever stepped down, then what? I think he realized what he had gotten into and then knew he HAD to be in that office to stop anything crazy that happened.

    1. I'm not GOP so nice try.
    2. Calling him "Reckless", "part of the problem", "un-American", "dangerous" to his family, and telling his daughter that Trump wanted laws broken isnt bold?

Thats bold to anyone not wearing blue goggles. He did exactly what liberals keep saying conservatives wont do. He called Trump out. Made bold accusations and spoke the truth.

like others in the DT admin, he faced a bad choice of staying in the position to try and mitigate the damage or resigning to be replaced by an incompetent bootlicker who would have been more likely to bend the knee each time DT barked

Has there been a safer time for a Republican to criticize Trump and keep viability in the party?

Meh. Silent for 21 months. "Speaks out" on the eve of his book release. And still gives meaningless cliches as answers like "I think we can do better" without even saying Trump's name in response to very direct questions from David Muir.

He'll be wholly unsuccessful in untying his name from his support of the scumbag known as 45, and in resurrecting his political career, which is dead.

Pence is milquetoast but I agree with your sentiments about team. Biden made a career out of controversial comments and stances on race and crime yet all is now forgotten. Such is the nature of today's party politics. I'm not a fan of either. Yeay hyperbole.

    People cheering and chiding chameleons

The VP cannot be fired from an elected position, only Congress can remove them. I think Pence was uniquely insulated from retaliation, unlike other executive appointees.

    • Anti Death penalty.
    • Voted blue for congress, multiple times here in NC (Mike McIntyre)
    • Hate Tucker.

    • Dont like Con talk radio.
    • Pro vax

Not sure you've lurked as much as you think.

To some of you, anyone even an inch right of Polosi is GOP/red.

Generally I find I support more liberal views here than liberals do conservative ones...Which just proves my point.

That's so predictable. Every Trump ex ally remains quiet and then starts talking when they have a book coming out

Valid point no doubt. But I think what Pence is doing here is quite the opposite of being a chameleon. It actually makes him stand out and is at least a temporary shedding of the milquetoast persona.

He is deliberate, soft spoken and calm... But good Lord, couldnt we use more of that? :)

Except he didnt have a book coming out 18 months ago when he was far from quiet when face to face with Trump.

    Did you watch the interview.

He defied him. Called him out.
Talked to Polosi and helped secure the capital. Refused to leave the building so that he could certify the election even though Secret Servise wanted him too.

He told them he was not leaving. He said he feared that Trump would make it impossible for him to return for the certification.

He was far from quiet that day.
    No book was pending.

And yet despite all that, you are still team GOP. You've supported Repubs almost exclusively on this message board. You're a big DeSantis supporter but I can't figure out why based on what you say you support.
