Paul Pelosi violently assaulted in home overnight

Wouldn’t he have access to Secret Service? Or some kind of other security detail? She is third in line…

Multiple felonies, so this guy will be in jail for a long time. Might even be federal crime, meaning no parole, if Mr. Pelosi has protection (obviously if it was Mrs. Pelosi victimized, it would have been a federal crime, not quite sure if that applies here).

 

People occasionally wander into the White House, seems like every admin has at least one or two crazy security lapses. As we saw 1/6 a ragtag group of a few thousand was able to breech the halls of Congress, overwhelm the small number of capital police who normally only have to handle tourists. So the answer is: security lapses, but in this case it might not have even been a “lapse” as much as the expectation we live in a peaceful society. If Speaker Pelosi wasn’t there, there might not have even been any personnel at all, it’s not like the guy is living in a fortress.

I’m sure a motivated group of “assailants” could probably get to just about anyone in the country, if they really wanted to. The question will be whether this guy targeted the Pelosi residence for deranged political reasons, or whether it was a burglar or junkie who just happened to go to Pelosi’s residence. Could go either way until the identity is released, though obviously it would be a helluva coincidence to be random.

 

Hopefully he will be on the street in a few hours!!! You know bail and imprisonment is very racial!!

It was probably some deranged MAGA nut who was probably hoping to harm/kill Nancy and instead ran into Paul. It would be very on brand for that contingent that believes in violence and thuggery. Hope he recovers.

 

Well, some people got pretty far onto her property last year. (If that was me and I didn't have better security then, I'd surely make that investment afterward.)

My first thought was, killing him must not have been the motive. It probably wouldn’t be too hard to kill an old man. I’m very curious what the motive will be.

 

I wasn’t speaking to priors as we don’t have identity yet, I simply meant he committed them here, burglary, home invasion, assault and battery, probably escalated since it sent a senior citizen to the hospital.

Given Pelosi is in the chain of succession and under secret service protection, *if* this was targeted this guy is getting 20 years minimum and it’s a federal crime (it would be for any federal officer, but to physically assault someone under secret service protection…. good luck with that!). I’m just not sure this “federal” jurisdiction applies if it happened to be a junkie/burglary gone wrong, maybe it does/maybe it doesn’t, might be some discretion as to whether the U.S. District attorney wants it.

 

That's possible, rich people have been getting their houses broken into a lot recently.

 

I would think unlikely random. Odds seem astronomical.
