Per court documents, she sued him and alleged he kept the money and lined his pockets for his political campaign. The lawsuit, first reported on by The City, alleges that Whitehead first met Anderson after he helped her son Rasheed secure housing after an intensive surgery procedure. Anderson alleged that Whitehead helped her get in touch with two lenders who said her chances of securing a mortgage were very low because of her credit. Then, Whitehead asked Anderson to move her retirement savings into her personal bank account and offered her a deal. "Mr. Whitehead proposed that Ms. Anderson should invest her money into his company, Defendant LWI, and offered to use the money to purchase a home for her, to make any needed repairs to the property so that it would be habitable for Ms. Anderson, and then return any unused portion of the "investment," Anderson's attorneys wrote in the lawsuit. "When Ms. Anderson expressed reservations because she had no other income with which to support herself, Mr. Whitehead offered to provide her with $100.00 per month to live off of until the purchase and renovation of the property was complete."
Again. He has to pay taxes on his income. The churches tax exempt status has no bearing on his income and tax liability.
Anyone else wondering if the whole thing isnt a setup? Maybe an insurance scam? Notice WC mentioned it upthread. That was my thought too. Have they caught the "robbers" ?

But what was stolen his property or the churches? You know that some of these churches play fast and loose with the tax rules.
I'm sure an occasional one does, but 401c's (which most churches are) are monitored pretty closely. ...You should aee the audit process that we go through with Habitat. ...pretty strenuous. Any 401c breaking tax law should pay the penalty. It's why generally churches have a board and not one person making financial decisions. I bet this clown makes all the finance decisions for his "church".
Whats worse for the churches perspective is that in the scriptures we are called to bring any tithes or offerings into the LOCAL "storehouse" for the needs of our local community. That is the only real reason for giving. Local charitable work goes undone because clowns like this steal from the local churches via the money never getting to where the real need lies.
