REPORT: Passwords of Top U.S. Security Officials Found Online – Hegseth, Gabbard, Waltz Among Those Affected

Passwords and private information belonging to top national security officials in the Trump administration have been found online, according to the German publication Der Spiegel.

In a stunning report published on Wednesday, the paper said its journalists “used commercial people search engines along with hacked customer data that has been published on the web.” Those whose information was compromised include Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.

“Private contact details of the most important security advisers to U.S. President Donald Trump can be found on the internet,” the outlet wrote. “DER SPIEGEL reporters were able to find mobile phone numbers, email addresses and even some passwords belonging to the top officials.”
    ....................................
Those affected by the leaks include National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. Most of these numbers and email addresses are apparently still in use, with some of them linked to profiles on social media platforms like Instagram and LinkedIn. They were used to create Dropbox accounts and profiles in apps that track running data. There are also WhatsApp profiles for the respective phone numbers and even Signal accounts in some cases.

Don’t any of them know any 13-14-year-olds who can show them how to do this?

I have passwords that have been compromised too. It’s actually not uncommon.

Lmaoooooo. The DEI cabinet continues to not disappoint. Someone should tell these dullards that “ABC123” is not a secure password.

All I do is shit on this admin, but I don't see this as a huge deal. Pretty sure everyone here has their info compromised online.

one would think that when one takes on such a sr national security position that they would insulate themselves going forward from previous accounts that were compromised. not hard to find out if an account has been compromised

Doesn't seem like we really know that from this story. Compared to the previous eff up, this reads like an attempt just to pile on. Let the shit show stand on its own

Same thought here. I have some accounts that I don’t care about that I’ve been told the passwords have been compromised but I don’t care enough to change the passwords. Any serious account has a non-compromised password, at least as far as I know.

The only account to have actually been compromised happened not once but twice with different passwords and no warning that they were part of a data leak.

We pretty much all have them but I don’t use those emails anymore. Phone number is harder to avoid. But you would think as part of the national security background check you’d change any compromised data and also wipe what you can at least from the “people finder “sites.
