here since 8th grade, honors through hogh school attended college and got certified as a teacher..asylum appeal denied, checked in as required, detained, deported

South Florida school teacher was applying for asylum when he was deported to Honduras

Sauceda applied to Florida International University and the University of Central Florida, and got accepted to both, but chose to go to FIU to be closer to his family.

In December 2023, Sauceda graduated with a 3.4 grade point average and a bachelor’s in chemistry with a track in education. “This is my diploma from FIU,” he showed with excitement and pride. “I got even happier when I received my teaching certificate.”

A month after graduation, he was able to secure a job as a teacher at Miami-Dade Public Schools. “I was a little bit scared because I was not a U.S. citizen and not a permanent resident, but I did have a social security, so that’s how I applied for teacher’s certificate,” he told NBC

The missing part of this story is why his appeal didn’t go anywhere. The telling part of this story is that he appears to be housed (better than many) with his uncle. The nonpartisan part of this story is:

“He was initially detained during the administration of President Joe Biden, but deported on Feb. 6, shortly after President Donald Trump took office.”

And you will post stories of undocumented people who don't commit crimes ?

Sounds good…oh wait, those undocumented workers have committed a crime being here so don’t think anyone would be able to find a story that fits your criteria. But you know that and just prefer to keep these criminals here

Oh look, you're wrong again. Do you ever tire of being wrong? I look forward to when you post something that is not inaccurate.

Being present in the United States without legal authorization is a civil violation, not a crime, unless someone has been previously deported and reenters

But since you wanted some crime, here - I'll give you some incited by a criminal that you voted for!

This is an example of why the immigration system is broken and racist. Further President Musk with his faithful companion Trump is making things worse. It should only take weeks and not years to hear a case, so we have needed more immigration judges to hear the cases to speed things up.

I’m not talking about the ones who sneak across the border, but the ones who seek to come here legally. To me the system is too slow so I can see why they come into this country illegally out of desperation. Yes they still entered illegally but in my opinion the reasons should be taken into consideration before deporting them, especially if they don’t even speak the language of the country they’re being deported to..

It doesn’t say they “didn’t try to become a citizen”. He explored all avenues, you don’t think he wanted to become a citizen??? That likely wasn’t an option for him.

It says he has been here since 13 (now 24). The article doesn’t specify it, but he likely was a dreamer which is how he was able to attend and graduate college. At 13 he himself couldn’t have broken any immigration law, it’s likely his parents did. What the article suggests is the parents are still here, so presumably they managed to obtain a permanent status? Which would be interesting , as it was them and only them who possibly broke the law, not the 13 year old they brought with them who was doing all the right things. In either case, unless there is some missing information about a crime this young man committed, there is no value in deporting a math teacher whether Biden did it or Trump. It actually sounds like his following the book and checking in is what got him in trouble… although he likely did not have “work authorization” which might also be problematic. Just seems incredibly stupid. Florida has a massive teacher shortage, why not get him authorized with a temp visa and let him do the job he’s trained to do (math teacher)?

DOGE, where are you? Cost to deport the teacher versus economic gain for society as being a teacher? Put some numbers to this.

MAGA, why not implement comprehensive reform and an e-verify system? What are you afraid of?

So a 14 year old fleeing violence overcomes tremendous odds to become a highly valued and productive member of society and too bad? Seriously?

this can't be legal in the USA is it? Authorities can jsut make people disappear and answer to noone?
They were arrested during routine ICE check-ins. Then they disappeared.

SAN ANTONIO — Henrry Albornoz Quintero’s family had been tracking his whereabouts through an online detainee locator ever since he was arrested and put in deportation proceedings after a routine check-in with immigration officials in late January.

But on Friday — less than a week before the expected birth of his son — the Venezuelan man disappeared from the database.

“Your search has returned zero (0) matching records,” the government website states.

The families and lawyers of dozens of other Venezuelan and Salvadoran men who had been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement say their relatives and clients have similarly disappeared over the past week, with no explanation provided by the government over where they may be.

zealots everywhere. the pressure to get deportation umbers up so dear leader can glow in them msut be tremendous. wonder if job promotions or even jobs themselves are on the line and that is pushing agents to maek decisions they wouldn't normally make. every judgement call is going one way, legal or not.

instead of speeding ticket quotas, got deportation quotas to hit or you lose your job? would not surprise me one bit. call it performance criteria

Venezuelan couple detained again by ICE after judge ordered their release

Federal immigration authorities on Friday arrested a Venezuelan couple for a second time this month, their lawyer and relatives said, after a federal judge in D.C. ordered their release last week in a case that stemmed from their having illegally crossed the border more than two years ago.

The couple was driving in Suitland, Maryland, with their 4-year-old son when authorities stopped the vehicle and arrested them, said Madhvi Bahl, a volunteer with the group Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid, which had been supporting the family.

They were then taken to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Chantilly, Virginia — the same facility from which they had been released last week. The child was taken by an aunt who was traveling in a different vehicle behind the couple and witnessed the arrest, Bahl said.

A spokesperson for ICE did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Friday’s arrests added to a family saga that had already raised alarms among immigrant advocates because the couple had been granted temporary protected status and the first arrest — as they were returning from work to their home in Southeast Washington — occurred in front of two of their children.
