I've only been to the Florida Keys one time and it was only down to Islamorada.

At the restaurant we dined at - I had the Grouper with a macadamia and panko crust. Mmmmmmmm.....delicious!!!

This was 24 years ago give or take.

I was dating a girl whom I had known since the early 70's who moved up from Miami to NSB along with 2 other girlfriends, both fresh out of high school like me and my buds. Her family had a beach house here, so that where she stayed. We had a few parties there over the years too! ;) She was/is gorgeous and I thought out of my league. But I managed to remain in touch and many years later we ended up getting together.

Her Dad - an Army veteran - played football at FSU on both defense and offense - because when he played they had just started their football program and didn't have a full compliment of players like schools do today. He ended up a high school football coach in the Miami area for many years and was very popular. In fact, her family was good friends with Angelo Dundee and family and while visiting I had dinner with them as guests. I have an autographed business card from Mr. Dundee.

Stephanie was a smart hard working girl. She worked in sales for many years, including for an animal health pharm. company when we were dating. She lived in Missouri at the time so I flew out a couple times and she drove me all over the state seeing the sights, which was very cool. She was owned at the time by an Australian Cattle Dog and that is when I first learned about the amazing breed....later to be owned by two myself!

Here she is while we were in Miami visiting an Orchid nursery that one of her friends owned. She never liked this photo but I always did, as I do for all of her.... :)

Thai red curry with chicken. I currently have a lot of kaffir lime leaves because I had to top my kaffir lime tree to get it into the garage to weather the cold snap.

Made an Asian cucumber salad to go with it.

Did some work this morning with my motorcycles, then picked up Chinese take out from a place over by the Winn Dixie and got home just in time for Gator hoops! This restaurant is under new ownership and did not disappoint!

Was trying to post a food pic - but was denied so here's some of my bikes.....

I'm looking at the menu of this place - Panda Buffet....and on the back of the menu is a list of Sushi offerings. Some include "Eel". I've never had Eel. There are other ingredients in addition to the eel in these rolls, so probably not a big deal how it tastes...yes.....no?

Will try to post a pic later of the Sushi roll menu section w/descriptions to give a better idea.

Eel is great. It should be called unagi on a sushi menu.

Tonight we had friends over for a vertical tasting of three Oregon pinots: same variety and same vineyard but a 16, 17 and 18. My wife made goat cheese and pear tarts and cheddar and stillton biscuits to munch on during the tasting. Then we had some Thai take-out.

In keeping with tradition I made victory margaritas but very small ones after the wine.

Sorry fellas—I stand firmly in the belief that all fish (except oysters) should be cooked before consumed.

I like my sushi grade tuna steaks seared and raw in the center.

I like Sushi as a departure from regular cuisine. I know - like an iceberg - there's more to it than you see. I'm a willing participant in the acquisition of Sushi knowledge. :)

Actually I prefer sashimi to sushi. @74nole would think that I am eating bait.
