Butter beans and sweet corn with lasagna sounds weird to me.

Toasted garlic bread is right on.

Opening scenes with The Wild Bunch is way up there for me. The Touch of Evil Orson Welles opening shot is awesome. One that is not that well known but really good is the Cronenberg intro to A History of Violence.

Now when it comes to car chase scenes everybody goes with Bullitt and French Connection. But the car chase at the end of To Live and Die in LA is incredible and gives Friedkin a second nomination for one of the best ever.

Takes on a whole new meaning with anti-woke folks.

Added in edit: Just a nit to pick but wasn't it "They? Who the Hell is they?"

Spent a lot of the day putting screen mold on wooden screens that I built so need a quick dinner prep. Since it is Tuesday it will be simple tacos and not the fancy ones that I like making. I do have some leftover chicken tinga and pickled red onion if somebody wants a more upscale and traditional Mexican taco, though.

We have some Old El Paso "stand and stuff" hard taco shells. I will make the taco meat filling with a combination of ground turkey and chorizo with Old El Paso lower sodium taco seasoning. Diced avocado, sliced Spanish olives, shredded iceberg, diced tomato, shredded "Mexican" cheese (it's Kraft so not very Mexican), sour cream and other stuff as toppings.

The rest of my family loves this kind of dinner and I am "Meh".

Personally I would have liked to use the chorizo with some pork shoulder for making a pork tinga but that is a lot of work but well worth the effort.

I’ll have to go back and check.
For some reason my other comment didn’t post. First time I saw it in the 60s was a twin bill with a spaghetti western (keeping it food related).
In the spaghetti western the bad guy gets gunned down, and a trickle of blood comes out of his mouth. Then, we saw The Wild Bunch.

Tonight we’re having fried cubed pork steaks, freshly steamed green cabbage, and white rice topped with Rotel tomatoes.

31* this morning and 34* expected tomorrow morning—a tumbler of Knob Creek Small Batch 100 proof seems quite fitting for this afternoon/evening. Ms. Jan’s going to enjoy herself a Moscow Mule.

Today is my youngest son's birthday so we are taking him out to dinner where he can get sushi.

Tomorrow having some friends over for dinner. I am slow cooking a top round on the KJ. Making braised cabbage with onion and apple as well as a poblano gratin per my wife's request.

Two nights/mornings in a row of 31* lows here in Jasper—so—

We’ve been smelling a big pot of chili simmering on the stove this afternoon. We will serve it over a bed of white rice covered with Sargento fine shredded sharp cheddar cheese.

I’m enjoying the Knob Creek right on and Ms. Jan’s sticking with her wine tonight.

MIL wants to buy dinner tonight. Last night was pretty much homemade Thai so take-out Thai might be out.

Chicago dogs tonight with Vienna Beef dogs. I have the correct sport peppers from Chicago but don't have the correct "neon" pickle relish. Will have to use the normal kind. I made poppy seed hot dog buns by putting a coat of melted butter on some Sara Lee brioche hot dog buns and then sprinkled poppy seeds on them. Seems to do the trick.

Tonight is leftovers again—but that’s ok because it’s the second half of the pan of lasagna from Sunday night.

Our sides are a freshly made Caesar salad and garlic yeast rolls.

I am enjoying a tumbler of good bourbon while Ms. Jan’s holding with her chilled wine.
