Pushing 8.75 hours on a 4.5 pound pork shoulder at 250 F and not quite done. Worth the wait, though.

Parts of the pork shoulder are 185 F and other parts are 210 F. The meat has pulled back a lot from some of the bone and a little from other parts of the bone. It has a beautiful crust. It jiggles when I hit it. I am pulling it to rest.

Tonight I’ll be grilling chicken halves seasoned with coarse black pepper and Everglades seasoning.

Inside we’ll have freshly steamed green cabbage, and Dixie Lily seasoned yellow rice topped with Rotel tomatoes.

The back porch is open, the longnecks are ice cold, and Ms. Jan’s wine is chilled.

Tonight is my MIL's 91st birthday and she wanted to go out for dinner. We are going to Chuy's mostly because they make decent margaritas.

Tomorrow my wife and I are driving my younger son to Orlando as he is flying to Lyon and spending two weeks in the south of France. We plan on eating dinner at the Bosphorus.

Haven't been to Chuy's for a number of years. The margarita menu isn't as good as it used to be.

The ribs are gone, but still have the side leftovers. So went with burgers tonight.

I can feel the added weight I’ve put on over the weekend. I’ll probably take it easy the rest of the week with just salads & sandwiches and whatnot.

BLT tonight, with chips. I grilled a few marinated chicken breasts the other night for my wife. She had that along with a salad.

I had lots of the fluid left over from Osso Buco, but ate all the veal. So I sautéed chick breasts, then added the left over roux from OB to have a great meal.

Drove straight home and didn't go to the Bosphorus. Really great Turkish food, BTW.

    Had leftovers instead.

Drove my son's car back and forth to Orlando for his flight and not my wife's 2006 Ford Fusion with over 250000 miles on it. It runs great but leaks some oil.

We joke that it has a special antitheft device bcause it has a five speed manual transmission. Kids now don't know how to drive stick for the most part. Valet parking is often an issue.

Had chilled shrimp cocktail last night, with a big salad. A nice meal to have with the scorching heat we’ve been experiencing this week.

Tonight, having standard beef tacos along with some homemade salsa. Holding off on the Modelos till game time.

    Go Gators!

Grilled pork steaks seasoned with olive oil, black pepper, blackened seasoning, garlic salt and celery salt, then rubbed all in with mustard on both sides. Side dish was macaroni & cheese and French style green beans with bacon.

Tonight I’ll be grilling bone in thick cut pork chops indirect over cherry wood smoke. Baked potatoes will be on the top rack.

Inside we will have a pot of fresh purple hull peas and pod okra.

We’re watching the game on the back porch while the cooking is going on. The adult libations choices are fully restocked for your choosing.

When we ate out last weekend and I missed the first 6 & 1/2 innings, we lost. So we went out for an earlier dinner tonight …and got home in time. As it turns out, the problem isn’t me being at home wearing a Gator shirt, sitting on the corner of the coffee table with a beverage. It’s just eating out altogether on a game day. Won’t happen again.

The meal wasn’t that great anyway. I ordered a sandwich that I thought was what I ordered there before …but it wasn’t. The wings we shared as appetizers were good though.

I’ll try harder not to let Gator Nation down again and stick with a home meal.

I’ve had a big pot of spaghetti sauce simmering since noon for supper tonight—the house sure smells good.

Our sides will be a freshly made Caesar salad and Five Cheese Texas Toast.

Today it’s Moscow Mules for Ms. Jan and Kentucky Mules for me.

Either my wife is making some sort of Chinese noodle thing or we are having some kind of good take out. I went to the game and then had to meet an AC repairman so no trip to the grocery store and nothing planned for dinner by me.

    It will work out.

The Gators won and advance so I am good with about anything for dinner.
