Mah--mahi with a soy and brown sugar glaze over a bed of sauteed rapini and charred fennel. The sweet of the glazed mahi should play well with the tartness of the rapini. And charred fennel just because I like fennel.

I bet you would want some of those Asian pears you used the other night to go in the salad.

I used to have a sand pear tree at a rental house but it died. Sand pears are very similar to Asian pears and having a source of free ones when in season was awesome.

I went with just lettuce, sliced radishes and cherry tomatoes.

We actually have 3 pear trees in our backyard. Had them for years. For whatever reason they have not produced any pears in the last few years. But quite honestly, we hardly ever ate them anyway.

Tonight we’re having chicken fajitas, and refried beans.

Ms. Jan’s going with Moscow Mules again and I am enjoying Dos Equis lager w/fresh lime wedges.

Put the leftover pulled pork to use …Brunswick stew. I added some chicken as well. Biscuits on the side.
My wife went with an omelette.

Too caught up in the game to post earlier—we had pulled pork sandwiches too @scooterp .

Our sides were BBQ baked beans and coleslaw.

Ms. Jan enjoyed her wine and I went with bourbon and ginger ale.

So glad to see our guys keep their hearts and heads in the game.

The pork tinga was a Rick Bayless recipe and really good. I had never made it before but it will be somthing I make again and again.

Defrosting some Sunday sauce and a couple of meatballs for tonight. Serving over thin spaghetti, with a tossed salad and 5 cheese garlic bread on the size.

My wife has requested chicken, with some of the marinade I have leftover from the cashew chicken I made the other night, along with her salad.

And with the late start time I’ll hold off on drinks till later… but have a few Modelos dark beer ready to go.

May the bats be lively tonight …and Sproat on point. Let’s do this!

Left over pork tinga for a second round of tacos. So good. I am keeping that recipe. Made a batch of pickled red onions as a topping and my wife likes shredded iceberg lettuce as a topping and I can live without that.

I might fry up some chorizo as a taco filling as I have lots left over from making the pork tinga and we may be a little lite on taco meats.

Tonight we’re going with Honey Baked Ham, fresh pinkeye peas with snaps and pod okra, and Ms. Jan’s homemade potato salad.

The back porch is open as the Yeti is restocked and iced down with longnecks. Ms. Jan will enjoy her chilled wine this evening.

My wife’s uncle is treating us all to dinner tonight. We have 5:30 reservation tonight at Delmonico’s Steakhouse. Which obviously conflicts with the game. My wife gave me an out, saying I didn’t have to go. But I know better. So I’ll just catch parts of it.

Outstanding weather for the holiday weekend, mid-high 80s with full sun. Burgers & dogs are on the menu for tomorrow, with meat sauce, slaw and potato salad. Then have 2 racks of baby-backs scheduled for Monday, with corn-on-the-cob, baked beans and any leftover sides. Hopefully the pool water temp is warm enough to get some use.

Let’s make it 5 for 5 with Vandy. Go Gators!

    Making tortilla soup.

Pork shoulder was on sale so I bought a 4.5 pounder. Probably pulled pork on Monday.

Tonight we’re going with fried catfish, Ms. Jan’s homemade coleslaw and potato salad, and hush puppies.

Really pleasant weather here today for this time of year. The longnecks are ice cold and Ms. Jan’s wine is chilled.

Tonight we’ll be going with simple but good. I’m grilling cheeseburgers and hotdogs. Chips will be our main side and we will also finish off the leftover BBQ baked beans from the other night.

The back porch is open and restocked with choice of adult beverages.
