My mother was a nurse and she had this insane phobia about undercooked meat. Every Christmas she would buy an amazing standing rib roast and ruin it. And every Christmas she cried and said "I just can't help myself". I grew up not liking meat. I got over it.

Today would have been her 100th birthday

Because of the early home basketball game we are having El Indio take-out as a pregame meal.

I am having a carne asada burrito and a fish taco.

Homemade hamburger vegetable soup here tonight.

Everybody here is still kinda run down after all of the holidays sickness.

Looking forward to seeing baseball getting started.

Currently I’m not finding it—I was getting it from the meat market Salt Lick in Albany, Ga. and the grocery store in Colquitt, Ga., but it has closed down.

OK thanks, Bill - hate it when that happens! :(

If you run across any, please grab a jar for me! Or two! ;)

And I will do the same.....

Tonight is skillet potato chunks with cubanelle peppers and "chorizo". Actually linguica because my Publix does not carry Spanish chorizo or Porteguese chourico. Mexican chorizo is totally different.

Also made some rajas (blistered and skinned poblanos and onions with garlic, oregano and thyme) as part of a chicken enchilda stuffing.

I was unfamiliar with Hogwaller Blueberry sauce so I looked it up. I am not a fan of mustard based BBQ sauces, but if you are it is a highly regarded one.

Temps have been very favorable this week, in the 50s. This has to be the mildest winter I’ve experienced since we moved up here in 2000. So, fired up the BGE and made 2 small pizzas. Pepperoni & black olives on one …and white clam pizza for the other. No salad. But we ate earlier and it feels like it should be approaching 8:00 right now, but it’s only 5:00. We are both left wondering can we make it another 3-4 hours before falling asleep.

The only thing we’ve ever used it on is chicken.

When up in Milwaukee over the weekend I scored two things I can't get in Florida: Vienna Beef hotdogs and Usinger's brats. They made it home in my wife's suitcase.

Tonight I am trying something new to me: French onion pasta. I am hearing it is all the rage and my wife showed me a recipe from the Washington Post. I don't have a subscription but I remembered the gist of it. It sounds good and IIRC the recipe had you actually caramelize the onions for a long time as truly required and not just ten minutes when the onions start to become clear and soften and maybe a tiny amount of char if done too hot.

Tonight we’re being treated to Ms. Jan’s pot roast and gravy, homemade mashed potatoes, freshly steamed green cabbage, and zipper peas.

Fried cornbread will be on the side.

Iced cold longnecks and chilled wine are also available.

Tonight we’re having fried catfish, cheese grits, Ms. Jan’s homemade coleslaw, and hush puppies.

Looking forward to watching our Gators play baseball tonight. The adult libations are ready for your choosing.

El Indio take-out for a pregame meal. Might not make the first pitch with the early (6:00) start but will get there when we can.

Made it just in time to see Cags monster home run. He is special. Reminds me of Ohtani with his skill set but I understand those are huge shoes to fill. Lets just say he is Ohtani-Lite right now.

Now drinking a margarita trying to get rid of the taste of blowing a five run lead in the 9th.

A pot of Sunday sauce simmering, with maybe an hour left. Sausage, meatballs… and pork necks, which I was able to get from a local butcher, surprisingly. Usually Never has them so I stopped asking.

Will serve over thin spaghetti. A tossed salad and garlic bread on the side.
