    Leftovers.

And everybody that is eligible should vote today if they haven't already. I don't care if you are a D or an R or an Independent. It is your civic duty. Just like jury duty.

Funny banter at Big Joe's today.....

I'm waiting on my to-go order and conversation moves to "Joe's making yours right now." I say "Doesn't hurt to give Big Joe compliments while he's making your sub!" Joe laughs and says "No it sure doesn't!" Joe says "Some get on the wrong side of me and then (gestures with his arm in an upward motion). In fact, I got two on my list just from today!"

"Hey Joe....are you losing weight - man you're looking good these days!"

They had CC's today! CC is code for Chocolate Chip cookies....:emoji_cookie::emoji_cookie::emoji_cookie:

We must be in step with one another with regards to refrigerator space Lurk—because it’s clean the refrigerator out night (leftovers) here tonight as well.

It’s been another summer time type day here again-we’re needing some of the rain that’s supposed to be coming our way Thursday.

The back porch is open and adult beverages are available as requested.

The BGE is up for duty again this afternoon. I’ll be smoking a half boneless pork loin over applewood smoke.

Inside we will have a fresh pot of cream 40’s & petite butter beans and a pot of yellow rice topped with Rotel tomatoes. Fried cornbread will be on the side.

Overcast and windy here today as the storm churns it’s way towards Florida.

The back porch is open and adult libations are available as desired.

I am roasting a pork tenderloin marinaded in sesame teriyaki sauce today. Never thought about smoking one.

Getting ready for some bad weather but I hope not too bad.

Hopefully it will be some much needed rain and minimal wind damage without too much power loss.

Power went out for about one minute. Now I have a few clocks to reset.

Heard a big limb break loose but have yet to find out where. Not my yard but close by. Sounded like it hit the ground and not a house or car.

Anyway escarole soup is on hold for a day or two. My wife requested that I defrost some pesto that I made earlier in the year when we had a lot of basil. She wants it over tortellini. Her wish is my command.

We lost all 6 of our huge oak trees to Hurricane Michael-but after seeing all of the damage those huge limbs did we decided to replace the oaks with River Burch trees-they get tall with plenty of leaves for shade but have smaller thin limbs.

Rain is really coming down now.

I have an idea where you live @74nole …but where are you @GatorLurker ? …doesn’t sound good.

Mid 60s here in upstate NY …and likely the last really nice weekend, temp wise. Starting Monday it’s all 40s or less.

A lot of heavy stuff last few days, cleaning out the freezer …Gumbo, white chicken chili and red beans and rice. The wife requested breakfast for dinner tonight …happy to oblige. Just finished the bacon & home fries.

Tomorrow is 100% rain …so I’m thinking some kind of kitchen project. Not sure what yet.

Stay safe boys. This thing seems to be all over the place.

My wife now wants both escarole soup and tortellini. Can do.

Actually she wants the cheese and motz ravioli but it is simiilar to the tortellini.

I know that trees if they come down or drop big limbs can cause a lot of damage, but at the same time they mitigate the severity of the winds and can be a real plus. And if you have regular tree maintanence and it is a minor storm you should be in good shape. We had a lot of tree work done a few months ago.

And having that tree work done by a licensed arborist really helps with insurance if that is an issue.

    Bill,

I am guessing you are not wet enough for tupelo trees. My in-laws had one on their property in Northwest Gainesville. They make the best honey but they didn't have a lot of them around and knew nothing about beekeeping. Knowing somebody from Wewahitchka is the real deal. The roadside honey from there is great, but getting some of the "inside" honey from there is incredible. I had a student from there well before the movie Ulee's Gold and I mentioned tupelo honey from there and he brought me a jar. It should be a Schedule 1 drug.

Eating local honey is supposed to help with allergies. I’m allergic to every kind of pollen known to man, so nothing helps me much, but for those with more mild allergies, it’s supposed to help.

Going to the basketball game tonight with my son. Since tomorrow is a home football game parking will be fubar. I suppose we could do the shuttle bus from Shands but that is a PITA. My wife is staying late at her law office as she is currently drowning in work.

Making chili dogs for my son and I and taking a Lyft to the game. My wife will pick us up after we walk some distance from the O'Dome/Exectech Arena after the game is over.

Today I am doing a slow braise of a corned beef with garlic and onion, carrot bisque with ginger and sherry, braised cabbage and mashed parsnips.

I have some boiling potatoes and might do them instead of the parsnips.

Sunday sauce was my kitchen project yesterday with the bad weather. Unfortunately, after sampling like 6 meatballs throughout the afternoon I wasn’t hungry by dinner time …so just had a small salad.

Making up for it, tonight. Sauce & meatballs over thin spaghetti, with garlic bread and small salad.

We are going to be grilling cheeseburgers with home cut French fries.

    Saturday simple and weekend good.

Ice cold longnecks and chilled wine are a must.

Have vegetable soup going in the crock pot. After the pasta & sauce yesterday, along with more than my fair share of beer …keeping it light and simple.

Tonight I’ll be grilling chicken halves seasoned with coarse black pepper and Everglades Cactus Dust-yep, Pat’s Homade BBQ sauce on the last two turns.

Inside we’ve got a pot of fresh green beans and new potatoes and bi-color cob corn.

Beautiful day here today-we had 39* this morning at daylight.

The back porch is open and all are welcome-adult beverages of choice are allowed.

Tonight we’re going to be having one our favorite monthly splurges—done right-at home—fried chicken.

We will also have the leftover green beans, new potatoes and bi-color corn from Sunday night.

The back porch is open and the longnecks are iced down and the wine is chilled.
