Took a week long surf trip to Nicaragua back in '07. Good friends of mine next door came over to care for my 2 girls. The flight home was delayed. Plane got diverted due to weather. I got in the early morning hours....like 3:30am or something. Both girls were so happy to see me they both peed right there on the floor while jumping up on my with tails waging like helicopter tail rotors!

They were both around 2 years old back then.....Winkipop is still with me......there are no words to adequately describe the love between man and dog......

I accidentally made some killer soup! I picked up some chicken breasts to cook - mostly for my girl. Put them in my crock pot along with some chicken stock. Took them out. Cut one up and put it back in along with some bone broth, celery, carrots, potatoes, red onion, corn niblets, mushrooms, and seasoning. Just some stuff I had on hand. Let it cook the whole day. Then poured it into a container and refrigerated over night. Just had a bowl and holy cow it's unreal! It's funny because you know how you're laying in bed and thoughts are going through your head about stuff? Well, I was thinking I could add some chicken bullion cubes to strengthen the flavor up of my soup if I had to. Wrong.....it's good just like it is! Sometimes you just get lucky! :)

I planned ahead and met my dog outside for that very reason.

    Perfect.

I didn't mind, though. I have Saltillo tile throughout the house, except for my master shower, which is Terrazzo.

My kitchen has 50"s tile over old school underlayment. I have had to do some patches where some tile came up. Tricky job.

I now lay tile over hardibeacker when doing a big tile job. So much easier.

Tonight I’ll be grilling chicken halves seasoned with coarse black pepper and Everglades seasoning. Correct, Pat’s Homade on the last two turns. Baked potatoes will be on the top rack.

Inside we will have a freshly made Romaine salad topped with vine ripe tomatoes as our other side. We also have some four cheese Texas toast to go along with our meal.

Ice cold longnecks and chilled wine are ready for your pleasure on the back porch.

Life is good in Gator Nation!

    Posole is done.

Bandage from Moderna booster is also done.

Why people don't get the vaccine is a total mystery to me. Do they want to die?

Tonight we are making the second meal off of the pot of hamburger vegetable soup I cooked this past Friday.

Easy enough-a good meal-and no real interference with watching Game 1 of the WS. Go Braves!

The longnecks are ice cold and the wine is chilled.

Life is good in Gator Nation!

Making pasta puttanesca tonight. My son doesn't like it. That is why we keep a jar of Paul Newman's marinara around.

Going to a wake out of town tomorrow so maybe not cooking. A husband of a lady lawyer friend of my wife died. They recently retired and moved somewhere south of Gainesville. Not The Villages. I think near Dunnellon.

When we went to Chicago we did some of the Open House Chicago architectural sites.

We went to the Ebenezer Baptist church on the Southside. It was originally a Jewish temple and really exquisite. Mahalia Jackson got her start there. It was originally the Isiah Jewish temple. The German stained glass that is still there has many Star of Davids. Funny thing was that there was no line to see such an amazing place. Too many scared white folks? Not the same when we went to see The Penthouse in Hyde Park. Lucky for us we had a members pass for four of us and the people behind us had an additional pass for our fifth person. That was cool.

We also went to the KAM Jewish temple on the Southside. That temple and the Isiah/Ebenezer once merged way back when. It is also across the street for Obama's house in Chicago. Most people think that he lived in Hyde Park, but technically he lived in Kenwood just north of Hyde Park. The house next door had every window blanked out. I suspect that it was bought by the Secret Service.

Long day today and still not over.

I'm building a little storage area in the back and got most of it done now. Then had to take Mom for a doctor appointment. Then make a provisions run for her. I went to WM and while there thought I'd take a quick peek at the hot food section. Mmmmmm....ribs! They were on special so I bought all three racks. $6 each and that includes a side.

Looking forward to Game 2 tonight. :)
