Tonight we’ve got Taco Bean Soup made with fresh ground boneless chuck roast. Ms. Jan carried our neighbor (that I’ve been taking care of her yard) to Tallahassee for her foot surgery early this morning and is staying to bring her back home. They are making everything outpatient surgery with the COVID-19. I get it but then this lady is 70—I would think if they are putting her to sleep for the surgery they would want to monitor her at least until the next day...

Guess I’m kinda glad that I am more or less outta the loop.

Pure summertime day here today. The ice cold longnecks go down smooth on days like this one.

Brats again, but this time with German potato salad as the side.

I better start chilling some beer.

Memphis style dry rubbed ribs on the KJ, slaw made on Monday, corn that needs to be shucked, beers in the fridge.

And it took two days, but the 300 ft hedge (corner lot) at one rental house is now trimmed. I still have a Stihl hedge trimmer, but I like my DeWalt one better. It is about as powerful and a lot lighter.

Tonight we’re gonna celebrate the ol’fireballer’s 68th birthday with
grilling filet mignon’s, baked potatoes, fresh romaine salad topped with vine ripe tomatoes. French garlic bread on the side.

W/D has whole beef tenderloins on sale @ $12.99lb—hard to turn that down.

The ice cold longnecks are in play on the back porch. I might consider 2 fingers of 1792 in a tumbler on the table at supper.

I paid $13.99/lb. for 3.63 lb. about 3 weeks ago at Publix.

Had then slice it in pieces to freeze.

The butcher sliced off the fat for me which was nice.

What does it normally sell for. I didn't think it was on sale or anything when I bought mine.

    HBD, btw!

I’m ok with that. Had some decent games. I know I wasn’t one of the greats but I’m not ashamed.
Junior College stats were not bad . Maybe you can post those instead.

Got a huge amount of tomatoes from our friends and made a lot of tomato sauce. I will use one third of it over penne tonight and freeze the other two thirds tomorrow in separate containers.

And I still have a bucket of heirloom "cherry" tomatoes that are actually sweat and not nasty like the usual kind. Some will be used for salad tonight and some will be used for salad this weekend. The rest will be used for a different batch of tomato sauce. The salad will be a mix of escarole, curly endive, green leaf lettuce, English cuke, and "cherry" tomatoes.

Keeping in the creativity of leftovers—

We are using the second half of Ms. Jan’s pot roast for a lighter supper of open face roast beef sandwiches.

As the afternoon wears on an ice cold longneck or three go down nice on the back porch as I watch Ms. Jan water all of her hanging pots and flowers.

The yard is cut again and yes, it’s summertime hot—

Afternoon col’beers are definitely on tap today—

Tonight we’ve got fried fresh catfish, cheese grits, and French fries seasoned with Old Bay’s (makes for excellent fries with any seafood at our house anyway;))

Pork chops with a shallot, balsamic vinegar, chicken stock, butter, and thyme reduction.

And a big old salad with lots of the greens and tomatoes from yesterday.

I was going to mow my shaggy lawn today, but it was really wet from a downpour yesterday evening and by the time it dried out it was brutal. I will try again tomorrow.
