Thank you 74 - I remember you saying that before....and picked one of those up along with all the goodies.

Hope it turns out good so I can take some over to my Mom. She's been a great cook all her life and an inspiration for me as an independent type citizen....lol....

Doing a slow cooker pot roast instead of the beef stew. Almost the same thing anyway. Got everything in the pot early this morning. Should be ready for dinner time.

Ive been a road warrior the last month and havent been able to check in as much as Id like. Its outage season in the power industry so its really busy.

Unfortunately its been mostly bar food, bbq, and Mexican for me and my body is feeling it. I try to still work out and exercise but Im definitely not at my peak. Im going to make a stir fry with venison steak, chicken, and veggies for dinner tonight. I dont know if your local Publix as the jalapeno popper dip in the deli section down there - but if it does I HIGHLY recommend. Like the hot sauce commercial says - I put that $&*! on everything! I found it earlier this summer and its a staple in my fridge.

Tonight it’ll be ballpark fare—Burgers and Dogs on the grill for Game 3—slaw, bbq baked beans, and chips for sides—

The back porch Yeti is fully stocked and ready to go!

First Friday night home in a very long time. Off week for HS football and pool play game rained out ---- so its Man vs Food night with my sons and their friends. Wings, sliders, hot dogs, brats, fries (the new Members Mark waffle fries at Sams taste just like Chick Fila fries BTW), and a bunch of sides/dips. The house is already coming alive and I absolutely love nights like this. Food will be devoured, shit will be talked, and I feel pretty blessed they would prefer to do it at my house over somewhere else. You guys have a great night!

Working outside today but have come in a few times to cool off and catch up on football news. Was flipping through the channels and on PBS "Cook's Country" was airing and they had a segment from America's Test Kitchen about parchment paper. I thought it was only me that couldn't figure out how to get a roll the right dimensions for my baking pan - and had to combat the curling edges. Anyway - interesting segment and I learned something.

Here's the website in case it's of interest. I have bookmarked it and will look into it more at some point - probably a good resource for those who like to cook:

Tonight it’ll be Taco Bean soup with pressure cooked and shredded boneless chicken breasts. Topped with Sargento Tex-Mex shredded cheese.

    Jalapeño cornbread on the side.

The back porch Yeti was reloaded at noon and ready to go.

I hope Coach “Whiner” at Auburn has the chance to whine for 4 Quarters today—:ninja3:

Grilling thick pork chops over lump charcoal.

Posting from my phone. I need to get a computer.

Grilling two chickens tonight. One with pesto rubbed under the skin and one with just olive oil, salt, and pepper. The second one will be shreaded for enchiladas.

Good to see your posts here again, Lurk. You were missed!

Man was it humid out today - plus the usual heat, of course. I must have sweated about a million gallons!

That pot roast was ESPECIALLY good when I came in to cool off and feed my starving body! ;)

Looking forward to the game tonight, too.

    Life is good....in Gator Nation!

Got ribs from Ray’s Rib Shack in Waldo yesterday—leftovers tonight. It’s the north end of Waldo Road, by the park, just before the road curves to 301. There’s a cross street just south heading south if you are going that direction. Good food, reasonable prices (is this what they call an influencer?)

Inside supper tonight, boneless pork chops cooked down in the Lodge kettle with French Onion Soup Mix, Cream of Chicken Soup, and smothered in gravy—white rice and fresh zipper peas topped with fresh pod okra—

Fresh jalapeño cornbread on the side—

The ice cold longnecks were especially good on the back porch watching the beautiful sunset today—

    @74nole - ^^^ that sounds soooo goooood!!! :)

Went by Mom's late afternoon today to spray for weeds and pull up her old Pentas in preparation for new Pink Dreams Petunias I'll be putting in later this week. I also walked with her down and back to the community mailbox to get her mail. She said the pot roast was good.

Then I drove to Winn Dixie to grab a few items before heading back home. I was down to the last couple items when I noticed a cute girl (older) with a smart phone that looked like it had the Gator colors...so I said "Is that a Gator phone?" She said "no that's red, not orange." I remarked that even the pattern looked kinda like the hide of a gator - to which she nodded her head and said "Yes it does."

We ended up shooting the breeze a bit before she told me she was a food server at the local Mexican place. I mentioned I was going to make the pineapple/black bean quesadillas and then she said "the pineapple should be sauteed" before using them. Aha.....good little tip there. She also added that the black beans come from black bean salsa...not the canned black beans. If I was younger I would have asked her out - but we exchanged names and I told her I'd come in the restaurant sometime and that was about it.

She said she was from Atlanta so we also talked a little about the sports teams there. Those Georgia girls, huh? ;)

Come on Bazza - pull the trigger! LOL

As far as tonight have already scoped out a BWW and will be hitting happy hour in the next few minutes and then knocking back some Desert Heat wings for dinner.

@NitroSmoke - I think she was a little too young - maybe not - who knows. It was nice to just have a brief chat without any ulterior motives, for a change.

Whew.....another hot and muggy one today. I had my old helper help today and we serviced all my accounts plus planted a European Fan Palm at my Mom's that I've had here in a pot for many years just waiting for the right circumstance to be planted. Mom has an oval bed in back so that's where it went. Was in a blue plastic half barrel of all things and stuck out like a sore thumb...lol. Had to use my hackzall to cut the barrel off too. One less old plant consuming square footage here and Mom will like it.

We worked for 5 hours and when done I was pretty bushed, but I still ran down to my materials vendor and picked up a load (4 CY) of Pine Bark before they closed. That way I'll have it ready to go in the morning.

For dinner tonight a half can of baked beans and a top-shelf chuck burger - by itself - no bun - and ice cold tea - couple big Yeti tumblers.

After a shower I feel invigorated and ready for Game 6 tonight!

    Enjoy everyone!

    :ninja3:

Bazza, I worked in our yard this weekend—almost 2 acres of wild greenery, lawn, woods. Arms, torso, one eye now poison ivied :(

@BA69MA72 - Where are you located (city) - I'm in New Smyrna Beach.

Last Wednesday it was a cooler day but starting the next day (Thursday) and henceforth (incl. the weekend when you did your outdoor work), it's been like Burma out!

Been a while since I've been exposed by PI but there was a product I used (not calamine lotion) that helped neutralized the itch. Might have been this:

I also remember how good it felt in the shower when I ran the water as hot as I could.

Hope you get some relief soon, buddy!
